Today, I had to turn down an invitation to one of my best friend's birthday party because I had been scheduled to work. Little did I know that my job on that day would be setting up the tents, tables, and chairs for that very birthday party. FML

You turned down an invitation and showed up anyway, because you're awesome like that. Way to go, OP!

That sucks but at least you won't miss a thing!!

It's all good. You attended your best friend's birthday party and you got paid for it.

You couldn't talk to your boss about it? or attend after work?

What happened after the set up? Another one to go to? At least a hello and happy birthday could come up...

I really don't see the problem. It's not like you can't explain the situation to the party hosts. However, if you had to attend other jobs and had to leave the party right after; I can see why that sucks.

Sounds like a great way to go and get paid while there. Why was this an issue? You didn't actually set up and leave did you?

Sounds like a Busman's Holiday!
