Today, I had to give up going to a therapist because it was too expensive and my parents couldn't afford it. Meanwhile, a girl in my class is getting a therapist for her dog. FML

How would that even work? Therapist: how's life? dog: ruff

You should try the app "What's up?" It helps with many mental disabilities (depression and anxiety, just to name a few) If you search hard enough, you might find a therapist who would be nice enough to volunteer to help you out. I searched for one, and eventually found one who volunteers to help me. I hope the same for you. Good luck on your journey, I hope the best for you!

Won't your insurance cover it? I thought everyone in the UK had health insurance but I guess things can differ between countries. In Germany hi will usually pay for your therapie as long as you need it

I work in a non profit mental health clinic. Sessions are unlimited and $15 or lower for 50 minutes 1 one 1 with a therapist student. This FML is upsetting because I hear this way too often. I wish there were more low cost mental health services available to everyone :/

I mean, I feel bad for you, if you can't afford it. But as stupid as it may seem, what she does with her money for her dog, is her business. Don't spend your time eyeing what other people have, spend your time setting goals for what you want yourself.

I'm a vet tech and even I find this odd. I don't dispute therapy and it's many benefits but I don't think a dog will benefit all that much from one.

life is unfair like that. *hugs* I'm sorry OP

I see you're in the UK. Try contacting your Gp or your local branch of Mind.

You don't need it. Therapy is a load of bullshit, it isn't real. You're better off OP. This can be an opportunity for you to deal with problems yourself. After all people have existed for thousands of years without therapy.

Hey there OP. My wife and I are both licensed as therapists. You could get in touch either of us if you feel the need or are comfortable enough with the idea. :)

go NHS. the primary care teams are brilliant (and free!)
