By "woman" you mean "child at kindergarten", I hope!
I would say this woman's obvious stupidity comes with the times, and the fact that writing a letter has become an obsolete task, but even I know that to send a letter out, the very LEAST that it needs is a receiving address (and some postage, and you know, the address its being sent from). And I've only just surpassed my second decade in this big blue ocean. Did you give her a gold star for effort? Hold her hand and walk her back out to her car? Buckle her in and let her know to look both ways before turning?

An elderly man I met last week in the doctor's waiting room told me that he sometimes acts clueless on purpose to get others to do things for him.
