Today, I had a job interview where I was asked, "Who is your best friend?" I replied truthfully, "My cat", only to then be asked what my cat would describe as my best qualities, which didn't go far beyond, "Remembering to feed him". They weren't impressed. FML

But most importantly, your cat is impressed.

Maybe start finding a job at a pet shop?

Maybe you should have lied about having a best friend

If you go for Petco, stay out of the San Diego market, the DM for that area is a sadistic sexual deviant...being knee pads and breath mints if you do.

As long as you don't feed it green eggs and ham!

Pssshh, that shows you're responsible. They should've taken you

While im sure your cats are great, you need to realise that the people who are intrested in hireing you do not do that to be nice to you. They want to fill a position with the best candidate they can find. In the critera for "best person for the job", citing nonhumans as references is never going to turn out well for you (unless you applied to a zoo or vetrenarian office and even there I would not reccomend it). I know, they are speciests, but thats how it works. So no offence, lie and claim your mother atleast as your best friend. :/

im pretty sure they wont allow family as references.

Sorry, but I don't see why her best friend should really come into this. It's not her putting her cat down as a reference, they could've just asked what her best quality was or what her best quality is to those around her.

If they don't have a sense of humor, prob a shit place to work at anyway

Don't worry OP, my cats are my best friends too.

What kind of reaction did the interviewer have I wonder? Like how can a person say that with a straight face? Can't be too serious when you ask for what your pet finds best about you.

Well I suppose job interviews are a way of you getting to know whether the company would be a good fit for you too, if they're asking dull questions that don't inspire you maybe there are better options out there? I've had shitty interviews before, in hindsight they were the ones for places that wouldn't have been great to work at for me anyway.
