Today, I got a taxi home from work. Only having notes in my wallet, I told the taxi driver that I'd run inside my house and come back out with the change for the journey. He agreed, but only if I left my bag as collateral. It seemed fair. An hour later, I realized my wallet was missing. FML

You deserve it for leaving your personal belongings in a freakin taxi, especially your wallet. Moron.

I'm guessing Australia? And you only had 50s because that's what ATMs deal with, and cabs only carry $20 in change to discourage a hold up. Yea cab driver can't demand collateral, but you should really mention not having change before the ride...

Um, you're stupid. Who would leave their bag with a cabbie.

At least he didn't drive away with your whole bag.

#5, how thick can you get? Clearly meant notes as in bank notes. OP, you really had that coming. Besides, if you have the cash, it's the taxi driver's prerogative to be able to accept it, so he shouldn't have needed collateral. He also knew where you lived. YDI for using dodgy taxis and not realising that something was wrong.
