Today, I discovered my new step-dad has a rule about the shower. After three minutes, he turns the water off at the source. I had to beg him to turn it back on whilst covered in shampoo suds, and the only way I could get him to give me another minute was to forfeit my phone for the week. FML

I think you should talk to your mom about this. Three minutes isn't enough to shower unless you're The Flash, that's ridiculous. I hope you sort things out with an adult, OP, that's unreasonable.

Obviously there should be a conversation between OP and their mom and maybe even this new step father. But a 3 min shower is possible, not fun but possible. We had shower drills in basic training and had ONE min. I'm sure your family will come around though

A three min shower is possible if you're just washing your hair and have short hair or body, not both. If you have long hair you have no chance especially if you want to condition. It's especially not possible if you weren't expecting that's how long you had until the water gets shut off on you, he should have at least told you before you got in. =

tech. it is abuse because not being allowed to properly clean yourself can lead to rashes, infections on the skin, etc. also should he become more controlling it could be mental abuse.
