Today, at school, I was asked to play a complex piano piece in front of my class, teachers and guests. I nailed it, but what stood out most for everyone was how I apparently looked like I was being possessed while performing. FML

Being possessed is where you get your mad skills, clearly.

"My piano sounds like God's symphony and the microphone smells like the poor... Down on your knees I'm the piano god, pray to the songs that I play!"

Every musician has an intense-playing face! When I get really into a violin piece, I don't move my face at all but the rest of me sways all over the place. At least you're getting into it.

ignore them OP ! as long as you nailed it that's all that matters. they will never understand what it is to play the piano and be able to feel the music while playing. keep it up !!

Is the that normal to be super concentrated when playing difficult pieces of music? What did they expect while you played? For you to be smiling and tap dancing and telling stand up jokes?

OP don't listen to them. I bet you more than half those people want an ounce of your talent.

Sometimes when you're really into what you're playing it looks that way.

Lead singer of the band Tool and A Perfect Circle is the same way. Check out a couple of his live performances on YouTube. Crazy, possessed, genius, it's all just a different shade, sometimes the same and oft times misunderstood. Don't sweat it OP. If you're using so much brain power to focus so hard, not much left for other stuff. Look at Jordan who always had his tongue hanging out
