Well, I think you owe it to both of them (at least your boyfriend) to tell them, unless you think you can be contempt and happy by keeping up things how they are today and undermining your feelings.

You should at least tell your boyfriend that you are breaking up with him. You owe that to a person you are in relationship with. As for your boss it's unclear as to why you can't tell him (Is he not interested/unavailable?) If it's just him being your boss, well I know a few happily married couples who started like that
