Today, I realised that I can tell my 6 cats apart by the sound of their paws on the carpet. I think I need friends. FML

But...they're your friends, right? There is never a limit to kitties. Plus, they don't judge you...quite as harshly. ;)

I met someone with 27 cats. she's not fostering them or breeding them, she just has 27 cats. I can't even imagine that!

I had that many at one point- more actually. Not intentionally. I bought a farm and they asked "do you mind that it comes with a few cats?" A few cats turned out to be 5 cats- and their kittens. I dropped a few thousand on spays and neuters, found homes for those I could... Kept the rest as indoor/outdoor cats. I live where if hits -50 in the winter so on cold days like that all the cats come in. It's totally insane when all of them are in, but I don't believe cats should suffer for the stupidity of their former owners who let them breed uncontrolled. I still have 22 cats because there is too many cats, not enough homes. Going from 3 cats to 32 overnight was certainly an experience. Ill say that much.
