Today, my aunts found grandpa's will, which left everything to me and nothing to them, and his lawyer confirmed on the phone this was definitely grandpa's wish. My entire family now hate me and think I manipulated him. My grandpa has hated me my entire life, so I think this is his way of punishing me. FML

Today, I was at the reading of my grandma's will. Apparently I was removed from it some time ago, and the £2,500 I would have gotten went to my cheating bitch of an ex-fiancée. It seems my grandma adored her, and never forgave me for "driving her away" from the family. FML

Today, after I found out my uncle took me off my grandma's funeral program, I had to fight to speak. He spent the week taking out his jealousy and anger on me and my sister for being included in her funeral. To everyone else he's played the saint, and the whole family has no idea. FML

Today, my grandpa told my mom that he needs to rewrite his will soon. I jokingly said that I was going to be stinking rich when he passes away. He retorted that he's never forgiven me for rear-ending his car six years ago, and because of this, I'll never see a penny of his money. FML

Today, I inherited a lot of money from a great aunt that I had forgotten about. Her immediate family are all scumbags who were only after her money, so she willed it to me and my mom to say "fuck you" to them from beyond the grave. Now I keep getting threatening phone calls. Thanks auntie. FML

Today, I found out that my grandmother desecrated my grandfather's grave. 14 years after his death, she dug up his body and had him cremated so that she could sell his plot back to the cemetery for money. I was the one who found out so I had to tell the rest of the family. FML

Today, my dad's will included a DNA test he did on me when I was 3, proving I’m not his son. I thought we had a great relationship, but apparently he secretly hated me all these years for mom cheating, and decided to embarrass me in front of our family, half of whom it turns out I’m not related to. FML

They went straight from finding out about it, to thinking you manipulated him and hating you, without even talking to you? Even though they most likely (since someone would've picked up on it, at least) they knew your grandad hated you? What a bunch of bastards. I'd say they were projecting, but there's not enough to go on for that, so I'll settle for bastards. If they're not too big douchebags I'd say invite them in for a talk about splitting things up after it's all settled. If they're not satisfied with that, they can go get shot out of a cannon into the sun.

Taking the money and running for the hills is an option, if your family is always this awful. Or if you’re feeling generous you could divvy everything up equally, maybe with the help of a notary. But honestly sod them all.

Is it possible that you were just the family member that he hated the least? Your Aunts sound awful and that didn't just start when he died... He doesn't sound like he was a peach either but whatever his reasons, you just got a life boost. So thank the mad old coots ghost, get the money into a decent account and let it sit building interest until the family cool off about it. It's entirely up to you whether you share it or not. Personally, even from what very little you have said, I'd use it to start a nice new life somewhere far away from your 'family'...

he could have left it to you for the shit show, or he didn't hate you and thought he was doing you a solid in some way... Probably thought he was "toughening" you up thinking you had the most potential to do something with your life. it's a bad outlook but one many in the older generation of men had. Also generally done wrong. rarely was it done through getting kids to work harder and get them into boxing, almost always through being an asshole and hoping it worked instead of screwing people up...
