Today, my longtime coworker confessed that she's always been in love with me, and now that I'm finally single again she wants to start a relationship. The reason I'm "finally single again" is because my wife (who I had been with for 27 years) died last week. FML

My close female friend, who I did once have feelings for, but who always made it clear she'd never see me "in that way" is having a full-blown emotional breakdown. Today, a coworker told me she may be in love with me. I admitted similar feelings and we agreed, since we're both happily married, not to spend time together anymore. Two hours later we were both promoted to run the same project, where we'll be "working hand in glove for the next couple of years." FML

Doesn't look like the lonely widower role will be yours for long. It's overrated anyways. Maybe you should ask your coworker to stand down for a while. If you two hook up too quickly, Dateline might show up asking uncomfortable questions. Could you withstand Keith Morrison's withering stares?

I absolutely cannot relate. And I am sorry if this is out of place. Bounce back relationships rarely work. Make sure you take your time, grieve and heal. Sorry for your loss OP.
