Today, just 8 months away from graduating medical school, I successfully diagnosed myself with basal cell carcinoma. At least all that studying is paying off. FML

Oh. I hope your treatment runs smoothly, and you come out on the other side

I'm sorry you discovered that. Cancer is always scary. Here's hoping that treatment is successful!!!!

at least it wasnt a malignant melanoma...those have a much higher mortality rate. with basal cell there is a good chance you will be fine.

Why the HELL are you sorry they discovered a cancer that is easily treatable unless ignored for a long time? That’s just... well, stupid

And it'll continue to pay off because you're going to have a medical career because you don't have a very serious disease. It barely deserves to be called cancer.

My mom had that and was able to remove all the cancer but left her with big scar on her head but she’s cancer free.

You caught it early, a good job you had the training.

Not sure what that is. But if you were able to diagnose yourself then you might have caught it early enough where you can treat it before if hurts your body.

It’s a type of skin cancer. Starts off as a small spot & gets bigger over time, but it’s a slow moving skin cancer, so as long as he caught it in time, he’ll be fine.

Why FYL? Basal cell is easily treatable when caught early. Stop being a drama queen and kudos on your diagnosis
