My boy

Today, I decided at age 18 that it's time to put into storage the picture books that have been collecting dust in my room for nearly a decade. My mother took this as a sign that I'm planning to move out and abandon her forever, and has been crying for the last four hours. FML

Well. It is your mommy. All mommies are like that! You just gotta talk to her and comfort her that you're not moving out yet! Tell her you love her!

At least it's a sign that she does love you and will miss you, when you do leave eventually

Wow, I wish my mom was like this. Instead of being upset at the prospect of me moving away, she kicked me into an apartment and moved away herself.

I wouldn't worry, OP. It's pretty normal for a parent to find it hard when you move out (I'll just ignore the fact that's not what you were actually doing :p). At least she isn't like "Oh thank **** for that, I'll help you pack so you can be gone ASAP". ^_^

I would take a Mom crying over me moving out at 18, instead of the Mom that accused the 25 year old over the boyfriend of stealing money from her. But hey what do I know.

At least you have family who loves you and cares.

It's your mother that has the issues not you. Congrats on moving on!
