Your vet might be able to give you tips on how to help treat your cat’s anxiety. Or maybe modelling calm and confident for the cat will help you both. Or maybe treating the cat kindly despite its anxiety could lead you to a similar way of treating yourself, which would in turn help you as well. It sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. Deep breaths. I believe in you.

You can be each others emotional support animal.

Who told you to get a cat for anxiety? A dog would be much better (except for those neurotic yappy breeds.) A cat is the antidote to narcissism. If you think too highly of yourself, your cat will show you that you ain't worth a shit. Problem solved!

However, there was a guy once on this website who got a dog for his depression and the dog became depressed. Therefore, there needs to be a list of which animal goes best with which condition. It could be dogs for anxiety, cats for narcissism, a pair of rabbits for OCD, ferret for eating disorder, hamster for depression, a pair of guinea pigs for bipolar disorder, parakeet for shyness, etc.
