Knock off

Today, I overheard my six year-old step-son playing with his sister and cousin. His sister was the baby, cousin the step-dad, and he got to be “the best one” because he was the "real dad." FML

Your stepson's opinion is not that important -- if your wife thinks the "real dad" is "the best one," you've got problems!

He's still a child, and of course he loves and misses his "real dad." Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Wait until he's older and has a better understanding of relationships and his "real dad" before you freak out.

I wouldnt worry too much! I know my kids absolutely love their bio dad even tho he does not take care of them, he isn't raising them and isn't around for the hard stuff! but they dont see that yet, my husband is the one who is around, helps care for them and of course helps with discipline as well, so of course if their bio dad only sees them every so often then they will get spoiled while with him and he doesn't have to be the bad guy! I dont know how much involvement your step sons bio dad has but chances are if he doesn't have to do much of the actual parenting where as you do then of course he will seem like the better one to a little kid! but as they get older I think they'll realize how special you are!! in the meantime I wouldnt take it personally
