Is it that rare?

Today, my girlfriend is mad at me. Apparently in her country, not burping after a meal is very rude, and means you think their cooking skill is bad. I get throat gurgles, not burps. I tried to explain, but she thinks I made up a fake condition. It’s not fake, just so rare it’s unheard of. FML

There are countries where it's considered rude. But if she's going to build a life in another country she needs to acclimate to that country and understand it's different here

You are not from her country. You don’t have to give an excuse on why you didn’t burp. The correlation of burping and delicious food is absurd. Normal people burp when they swallow excessive air. What does that have to do with how good food is? This situation is moronic

Keep your girlfriend away from my brother! That dude's one of the most talented burpers I've even seen. She'd dump your ass for him in a minute!

Also known as Wet burps/belch, and sometimes can be caused by GERD, gastric reflux or even IBS.

I have this! I can't burp. I used to get throat gurgles but once I was adequately treated for acid reflux they went away. So I no longer gurgle very often, but I still can't burp.
