Today, I inquired about getting a raise from a company that I've been with for 5 years. My manager said I'll get one starting February 29th. FML

If I were you, I definitely would look for a job elsewhere, if this is how the manager treats you after five years.

I would do the math and go back to feb 29th last year and send in an email. do so at 5%

February only has 28 days normally, and the next time there will be a leap day, Feb 29, will be in 2024.

In my experience, asking for a raise is not nearly as effective as looking for another job that pays better.

my husband asked for a raise before Xmas. then they turned around and laid him off at the beginning of January
