Today, I was being interviewed for a grant over the phone. When asked why I wanted to go to school to be an OB nursing assistant, I panicked and yelled, "BECAUSE VAGINAS ARE FASCINATING!" into the receiver. FML

"Why do you want [thing you're applying for]" is pretty much THE most common question during an interview. If you can't even answer that one, you're woefully unprepared and don't deserve to get what you're you're applying for.

Maybe it wouldn't have been that awkward face-to-face. Some people (me included) have a phobia of making phone calls, but are (more or less) relaxed when talking to strangers when able to see them.
