Today, I called a potential employer. I left a message asking him to return my call. When he did, my drunk friend answered my phone with, "I make a sexy-time with my mother in-law." I called him back twice immediately to explain. No answer. That was my last hope for a decent job. FML

Unless you are killing yourself right after posting this, there is no possible way for this to have been your last possible hope at a decent job. And if you had any reasonable hope at a decent job, you'd have the intelligence to call back, apologize and explain that someone else had answered your phone and you'll be sure to not let it happen again

Most of you guys saying there are plenty of jobs obviously haven't had to look for one recently. The job market is terrible right now, especially for recent college graduates. Add in the fact that this may have been last on her list, and you have no jobs outside of highschool-dropout range. Also, do any of you people know what a landline is? Obviously, she gave her landline number (or was charging her phone), and her roommate answered it. This is especially likely if they share a phone.

I hate corporations and big businesses for this reason, they basically expect people to be robots and have no life outside of the company. I wish they could actually be cool and not d-bags to everyone around them. You should be able to find another job; companies are as generic as they think you are.

why are you with your friend while he's drunk during work hours? regardless, not last hope for a job. also, this doesn't make a company d-bags. if you can't present yourself well for a phone call, it doesn't bode well for the future, especially when working with actual PEOPLE

If this was the last one on her list than she is too stupid to have been hired any way. As you said, look at the job market on there. And if you're so stupid you have a short list of job searches in this economy, this would be one of your better experiences when it comes to your searching, not one of your FML ones.
