Dumbass

Today, I was hit by an unmanned semi truck that rolled down an embankment onto the highway. I'm fine, but the entire left side of my car is smashed in. The idiot responsible had to be dragged down the hill by the cops. Apparently, he was peeing and forgot to put the parking brake on. FML

OP here. After three weeks in a rental car and over $5,000 in repairs to my vehicle, I'm back on the road and the car looks as good as new. I'm still amazed I didn't die. I was in the passing lane, and that probably saved me. But a few cars back there was a gas truck. If he'd hit him instead, we probably would have all died. Nothing in life could have prepared me for the surreal moment of seeing a wild semi emerge from the underbrush and barrel onto the highway, though. It was truly bizarre.

Safety should always be put above all else. No matter how good you think you are at your job.

I completely agree. I watched him get fired right in front of me before the cops finished assessing the scene. The owner of the company was livid because he knew there was no way I was at fault and his insurance was about to go through the roof. I can only imagine what would have happened if someone were hurt or killed.

The driver probably would have gone to jail, since the injury/death would have been his fault.

You better have gotten a massive payout from that truckers insurance

Oh, I did. They covered all the repairs and my rental car.

I'm glad you are unhurt, and hopefully the semi company (or the driver if an owner operator) paid for everything including a quality rental and I'd want work hours were missed while dealing with repairs and forms, your missed wages. If you start having flashes, anxiety, sleeping problems or what have you get counseling, and don't wait years like I did. They will pay for it, and your quality of life will thank you.

I was busting for a pee and stopped an embankment .. I can see the other FML already...

I told you that self-driving vehicles are dangerous!

A truck driver actually died that way at a Walmart I used to work at about two years ago. He forgot to put his brake on, and was standing where he shouldn't, which was on the bay door on the outside while it was closed. His truck rolled back, and smashed him between the back of his truck and the closed bay door. He was found 14 hours later by management when they opened the bay door.
