With friends like these…
Today, I let a friend borrow a power saw. When I found it on my porch later, the blade was missing and the cord was cut. Looking closer, I realized it was his saw. He kept my new one. He totally denies that he switched them and now won't answer his door. FML

Where I come from, people who do things like that are called douchebags, not friends.

Makes no difference if he switched them, you loaned your friend a good working saw he has to return a good working saw. As a last resort you could try to involve the police for theft but I would first try peer pressure and involve his parents

What if the op isn't a teenager?
Reality_bites 14
Yes but the problem here is that the OP now needs to prove its theirs, by way of a receipt or something that shows the goods belong to them. Not everyone keeps the receipts or engraves their valuables.

Involve his parents? Wtf?

A good working saw? Did you miss the part where he said the blade was missing and the cord was cut?

He said he has to return a good working saw. He means even if it was the same saw, but broken beyond repair, that he (the friend) should buy a new one that does work.

No one is saying he is a teen but obviously he is his peer because, he is borrowing tools an things. An him not answering door screams immature.

Just steal your saw back when you have the chance. I donkt let people borrow my things because I am always afraid of bad stuff happening.

Cut his oh wait.... You can't.

And stop calling him your friend. He's an asshole, OP.

Yeah this guys right. He's not a friend. I'd knock on his door and stay low out of sight of the peep hole. Then when he opens it kick him in the balls. Throw his saw back at him and then take mine back. But that's just me.
mongoosemike 23
Kick him in the balls?? A swift punch to the mouth would be more appropriate, sir.

Damage is visible. Kick to the balls hurt more and not as much of a chance to hurt yourself. Also more likely to go to the police for getting punched in the face than getting kicked in the balls

Hey neighbour, can I borrow your car? *next day* What do you mean that's not your car? :)

I agree your life sucks! But the other guy definitely 'deserves' to have his door forced open.

You could always return it through his car windshield. :)
Inheritance 10
Then OP will be repairing the windshield and probably lose any chance of getting his saw back.

They'd be about even and OP could honestly claim it's not his saw :)

If he wants to be a immature prick about it. Open up a can of whoop ass and get your saw back.

Well, you still know where he lives! You'll get it back... eventually. Maybe. ...Probably not.

Watch out if you try to physically get it back though, he has a power saw.

Is he serious? Sounds like he's not a good friend and isn't the brightest bulb either.
