Today, I got banned from my school library after I ran after a guy who stole my bag. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was at the library. I went near the computer section when I saw this man cursing and pounding his fists on a computer. He left. I thought I'd check it out. As I sat down, a librarian came over with the security guard and pointed at me. I'm now being fined for destroying public property. FML
Today, I stole a classmate’s graphic calculator because I couldn’t afford one. She reported it missing to the professor. He wouldn’t let anyone leave class until it turned up. Not even saying I had diarrhea had him let me go. In fact, he told me to empty my backpack right there and then. I’m suspended. FML
Today, I was in the library when police arrested me for threatening people. The librarian even told them I did nothing wrong, and that the actual girl they wanted had already left. They took me in anyway. My dad sided with the police and let me “think about what I did” in jail overnight. FML
Today, I was in school when a guy grabbed my breast, so I swore at him and shoved him away. I got detention and he walked away unpunished. FML
Today, my friend wasn't responding to my whispers in the library, so I walked over and very slightly moved his chair. At that exact moment, the librarian walked in. Regardless of our efforts to tell her anything, she got us banned from the library. FML
Today, at my college, someone snatched my laptop out of my hands, so I chased him. Turns out I'm so overweight and slow that he moonwalked away facing me, while I sprinted my heart out. FML
Today, I was suspended from school for “being involved in a fight.” The other girl beat me up while I didn't do anything to defend myself, for fear of getting in trouble. She got off scot free. FML
Today, I was walking through a rough part of town, when a woman screamed that I'd stolen her bag. I was tackled to the ground by a large guy, who then gave my bag to her. FML
Today, I was at the library doing research for my midterm. All of the computers were in use, so I decided to use my laptop instead. Ten minutes later, I was confronted and kicked out. My offense? Unauthorized use of the library's so-called "Free Public WiFi". FML
Today, my so-called friend snitched to the teachers that I was the admin of the school confessions page and I got scolded after school. FML

The schools can take their zero tolerance policy and stick it up their asses. Getting banned for trying to get your stuff back is some major bullshit.

Fun fact about Mr Moesby: He was sentenced to 5 years in prison for manslaughter with a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated, but was only required one year in prison due to exceptionally good behaviour. He was on probation and had to do community hours, but that's better than 5 years! Anyways, that sucks OP I hope you got your bag back. Keep in mind a lost bag and a mad librarian is better than 5 years in jail (:

Zero tolerance policy my ass. They tolerate it until the victim does something, then it is a problem. In my case, it was getting beaten up daily and telling the teacher and principal daily, while getting no results. I fought back one day and I was suspended for 3 days and threatened with assault charges. The guy beating me up got a 3 hour detention.

Or back in middle school for me, I got beat up, didn't fight back at all, but somehow I got suspended. they got nothing.

When schools are failing in their "zero tolerance" and punishing the victim, the solution seems simple. Don't report assault or theft to the school. Call the police.
