Today, while taking a bus full of loud, rambunctious elementary children to school, the bus slowly slid off the road into a ditch. After waiting 30 minutes that felt like hours, I saw the tow truck arriving from the opposite direction also slide slowly off the roadway into the opposite ditch. FML

Today, I started a new job as a school bus driver. I was sent on the hardest route in the area, and not 5 minutes in I came across a broke down truck in the middle of the road. I was stuck behind him for over an hour with a bus full of elementary school kids. FML
Today, I waited over 30 minutes in freezing cold weather for my bus. When it finally arrived, I went to get on board, but slipped and fell on the icy ground. The driver waited a whole 2 seconds before snorting, "Ain't nobody got time for this shit", closing the doors, and driving off. FML
Today, I was sitting on the bus to the gym. I saw that an old woman needed help to get off the bus, so I got up, and helped her off. When I had finally got her down the stairs the bus closed the doors and drove away. I was in the middle of nowhere and the bus drove away with all my things. FML
Today, as I got on the bus to commute to work, its front right tire exploded. Everyone, including the driver, glared at me while getting off. The next bus arrives in 2 hours. FML
Today, my car broke down. I pulled to the side of the road to call a tow truck. After waiting what seemed like hours, the tow truck showed up, and then ran into the back of my car. FML
Today, I had to catch a shuttle bus. I awoke to the sound of a car horn. I ran out in my boxers and saw a bus take off down the road. I chased it, thinking I had missed my bus. I realized I hadn't only when I saw frightened kids in the back of the bus. FML
Today, after pulling an all-nighter studying for an exam, I caught the bus to college. On the way there, the bus decided to make sweet love to a taxi, creating a pile-up and a traffic jam. I didn't make it to the exam in time. FML
Today, while driving with my family, the car got stuck in a large patch of mud. My family of seven decided that I, the fifteen year old girl, would be best suited to push it out. After slipping, falling, and getting completely covered in mud, they finally called a tow truck. FML
Today, my car is being repaired, so I had to catch a bus to work. When the bus came, the driver pulled toward the curb and gunned it through a large puddle of water, then pulled away and continued down the road, leaving me soaking wet. FML
Today, I was on a very crowded bus, standing near the back door. People had to get off at the stop, and being near the door, I had to step off the bus, allowing the people to exit. I was about to enter back into the bus, the door closed and the bus driver took off, leaving me stranded. FML

I'm glad everyone is ok! That's so scary. This is why I don't understand why buses (especially school buses) don't have seatbelts! Let's be so safety conscious that we make a bus stop at the train tracks and open their doors on the off chance a train comes and no one can see or hear it and the lights don't flash and the bar doesn't come down, but let's forget about having the little guys wear seatbelts when they're way more likely to get in an accident then get hit by a train! Makes no sense.

It makes absolutely no sense. I'm not a advocate of forcing adults to wear seat belts ( they get stuck really easy and I'm terrified of being trapped, no matter if there is any danger or not, plus I am an adult, I can make decisions for myself) but children always should. Their smaller frames puts them in more danger. My kids always wear their seat belt. I'd rather be a hypocrite than my kids getting hurt.

In California they're legally required (or were, last I knew), but a lot of people will agree that in a fire, they're more likely to cause problems than save lives, especially when there are special needs children involved who can't unbuckle and evacuate themselves. With the amount of padding that seats in a school bus get, they're actually quite a bit safer than regular cars, as long as, you know, the kids actually stay in their seats.
