Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mother-in-law passed away. She wasn’t even cold yet when my wife told me she wanted a divorce. Apparently, only her mother guilt-tripping her kept us together the last few years, but now she’s dead, she’s dumping my ass. FML
Today, my mother in law accidentally cc'd me on an email she was sending to my husband, telling him that his youth is fleeting and that he should leave me while he still has time. FML
Today, I told my mother that, after years of cheating and abuse, I'm finally getting a divorce. Her reaction was deep concern that my husband might not want to "be friends" with the rest of the family any more. FML
Today, I found out that my husband, who I've just separated from, and my mother, who I don't speak to because she's crazy, have been bitching about me behind my back. FML
Today, I found out during my eleventh year anniversary with my husband that he was cheating on me with his recently deceased friend's girlfriend. FML
Today, my mother casually told me she’s been seeing someone for the past 3 months. My dad passed away 2 years ago. They were together for 40 years. Suddenly she had to get off the phone with me because her “guy she’s been talking to” was calling. Hence I’m on the wine. FML
Today, my mom admitted that her story about my dad leaving us for his current wife was a lie. He left when he caught her with a coworker. She blocked his number and got a restraining order to keep him from telling his side of the story. I haven't talked to my dad for six years because of this. FML
Today, my boyfriend of 2 months got upset and frustrated with me because he had yet to meet my mom. I'd told him on our first date that she passed away 4 years ago. FML
Today, my daughter-in-law revealed to me that she caught my husband having an affair with her best friend. This was five years ago, and she is only telling me now because he stopped paying her the blackmail money to keep her mouth shut. FML
Today, my psycho and now ex-girlfriend accused me of cheating on her with my own mother. FML

There's such a thing as "you missed the point where the truth would have been helpful". Either say it right away when you find out about the cheating, or keep silent. But four years into OP griefing for one version of her husband is a bit late to tear it all apart again and twisting not only the relationship itself, but also OP's entire grieving process so far. And now on top of that chaos sits the thought "Why would you only tell me NOW?", it's like an entire new betrayal. Messed up.

Would you rather the truth never came out? It's possible that it's been hard for her to protect you from this truth and she was waiting until time had a chance to ease your heartache.

It’s also possible MIL is lying just to hurt her.

Correction, EX Mother in law. If there's kids, I'd say that just cost them as no ******* way would I let them near the kids because all they would do ultimately is hurt them.

Maybe she’s lying?
