What about king-size chocolate bars?
Today, I took away my daughter’s candy bar, saying, “Princesses never eat sweets.” She spent the next few hours crying, because she “didn’t want to be a princess anymore." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I caught my young daughter eating candy after brushing her teeth. Angry, I asked her if she wanted all her teeth to fall out. She smiled and said, “Yes!” FML
Today, I took away my 8-year-old daughter's toy for throwing it too many times. She then said, "I need a beer." FML
Today, my mom complained that I never do anything nice for her, so while out shopping I bought her favorite chocolate bar. When I got home, she screamed at me because she’s on a diet. FML
Today, after a big lunch, my daughter told me she wasn’t hungry and didn’t want a snack. Ten minutes later, the sound of a bag of chips being opened summoned her like a beacon. She burst into the room, shouting, “HOW COULD YOU EAT WITHOUT ME?” I’m apparently not allowed to snack without filing paperwork now. FML
Today, my mom told me she’d never forgive me for eating her birthday candy. I ate it in my sleep. FML
Today, my two year old daughter did not want to leave the toy store, when I picked her up she started screaming at the top of her lungs, "YOU'RE NOT MY DADDY!". FML
Today, my 6-year-old daughter threw a tantrum in the middle of a store, all because I wouldn't buy her a pushup bra. FML
Today, my son asked for candy at a supermarket checkout. I said no. He laid on the floor and began screaming as if I'd killed his pet rabbit. Other parents nodded at me in silent sympathy, while strangers judged me with their glares. I bought the candy. He still screamed. FML
Today, my daughter thinks the way to save money is to stop taking her antidepressants, because they give her “uncontrollable” food cravings. FML
Today, I told my daughter that she wasn't allowed to eat in her room, so she sat at the table and glared at me for 10 minutes while she ate. She's 15. FML

And a phrase like that definitely won't create a bad relationships with food later in her life.

Haha, wow, gross. Why don't princesses eat candy, to you? Food is food. There is no "good food" and "bad food" , no "healthy food" and "unhealthy food". There are just foods that bodies can or cannot digest depending on the person. Teach your child moderation and to care for their body, not to fear certain types of foods because YOU were raised to think they are bad. Please do research into the newest studies on child rearing and eating disorders.

And you thought taking candy from your kid was a good idea because..,uh, why? That was not sound judgment. My suggestion: start looking for a good therapist for your kid because she’s going to need one.

Poor child. Horrible attitude from a parent. Way to go to cause food and body image issues. There is no good or bad food. There is no special occasions food. Food is bought to be eaten not for decorations. I'm so sick of people labelling foods, instead of teaching moderation. There is nothing bad eating sweets, cakes, burgers, chips. Its bad overindulge, over eat. This can cost you a healthy relationship with your own child when she grows up. Hopefully she won't grow up thinking she is bad for having a slice of cake or candy bar, and make herself sick or punish herself with limiting food next day/s.

I hope you had a talk with your child to explain that you were wrong in saying what you said. I’m sure you meant well.

That was an absolute shit move and a poor excuse to take candy away. Everyone deserves the occasional sweet treat and now you've ruined the princess thing for her

The next "few hours"? My god, just give her the candy bar and stop being a dick about it.

I never understand why people post things like this on here, do you get off on people telling you you’re a terrible parent? Or did you seriously expect people to sympathize with you?

Now this story is more like old-school FML than I've seen in a long time. I miss the olden days where every story got dozens of comments and there was a lot of back-and-forth amongst the commenters and sometimes even the OP.
