What a great friend…
Today, I told a guy that I only see him as a friend. He ordered separate checks because, “I’m not giving boyfriend benefits to a girl who won’t make me one.” I hadn’t brought my card because he always pays for my meal. The restaurant held my phone as collateral until I Ubered 10 miles away to get my card. FML

It's a tactic. Unfortunately for her it didn't work this time.

A tactic...like, a CON. SMH.

Who goes out of the house without any payment method? (And doesn't everyone got a way to pay with their phone these days?)

Don’t you need your phone to use Uber.. so if they have your phone, how could you have used Uber?

Book the ride on the phone, then hand the phone over as collateral until she could pay the bill.

I thought you had to use your phone to use Uber? How can you use Uber if someone has taken your phone?

Granted that's kind of shallow of him but I can understand why he's mad. But you also shouldn't always just assume he'd pay for you, so that's on you

Didn't you bring your purse? Which would contain your wallet, i.e. your money? Pretty sure that's a standard accessory for a date or general, platonic outing. Sure, he always paid for it before, because he thought this relationship was going somewhere. You told him it never would, so he no longer felt an obligation to foot the bill for you as well.
