Today, while working as a barista, a customer yelled about her muffins and butter not being ready since she only had a "short time to eat". There were 7 tip giving customers ahead of her, but I rushed her order. She gave no tip and stayed for over an hour. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Get on with it
Today, at the café I work at, I was yelled at by a woman because the drinks and food she ordered were "taking too long". Before I had the chance to get a word in, she stormed out and said she would never come back. I didn't get the chance to inform her that she hadn't ordered yet. FML
The customer is always an ass
Today, I was yelled at by a customer, who was upset over having waited twenty minutes for a waiter to come take her order. Maybe it would be understandable, if she was sitting in an actual restaurant, and not a serve-yourself coffee house. FML
The customer is always an ass
Today, while working my shift at the grocery store, we ran out of muffins. I'm a little overweight, and I guess that's the reason an irate customer accused me of eating all of them. FML
Today, at work, I got to wait on one of those tables where everyone had very complex orders, and some of them sent their food back. When the time finally came for me to bring them their check and receive my well-earned tip, I returned only to discover that they'd dined and dashed. FML
Do it then
Today, while I was working at Starbucks, a customer spilled her drink all over the counter. After I cleaned up her spill and remade the drink (for free), she exclaimed, "Thanks! I should really tip you!" Then she turned around, walked directly past the tip jar, and left the store. FML
Today, I got a write-up because I told my boss that it was impossible to have pies, which have a bake time of 1 hour, ready for a customer who wanted them in the next 15 to 20 minutes. Then, when the customer got there and the pies were still in the oven, I got a second write-up for wasting time. FML
Today, at the restaurant I work at, my own mom refused to give a tip and complained to my boss. FML
Today, working at a fast food restaurant, I was berated by a customer for a good two minutes. It's okay though because she ended with, "Sorry, I forget you all are real people." FML
Today, at my place of work in a fast-food restaurant, a customer called in and bitched at me that her warm food was weirdly cold. That is, after she drove 45 minutes from the restaurant to her house. FML
Today, while waiting tables, I watched a woman pull the bacon off her roast beef melt and eat it. She then called me over and spent several minutes complaining about the our chefs' inadequacy because they didn't put bacon on her sandwich. FML

It's sad how rude some people can be even when you try and do something nice for them.

ugh.. once when I was a barista (at a deli/espresso) I had a huge line of customers when 3 tourists came up at the end of the line saying they were in a hurry and needed their food and drinks fast. So I rushed their order ahead, made it to go, and brought it out to them. one of the guys look at me like I was stupid, told me it was for there, didn't tip, and they sat there and ate for over half an hour. (AND they didn't clean up after themselves) Bastards.

Your a barista...... You should appreciate tips not expect them

Really? That is your answer to douchy behaviour? Are you trying to find an excuse to act like that? What does it matter if the op was expecting it or not, her behaviour was still much worse.

How about we do what Japan did and start paying service industry employees an actual livable salary, or are we just too proud to admit that the service industry is run by human beings, too? Screw tips; it's been a breakable system since it was first implemented (or, at least, once people started realizing what "honor system" means).

Working in the food industry is just awful. We live in the world of now and not even bother with common courtesy.

I'm very sorry that you had a horrible customer, but people should be grateful for tips, not expect them!

So you normally provide service based on the tips? so much for them being optional.

Agreed; it's basically a "pay to play" system at that point. Here's what I don't get. Aren't tips supposed to complement the regular wage? With the tip system in place, employees get the raw end of the deal when their customers fail to leave anything, even if the service is warranted at least a moderate tip.

Simply hate people like this. She knew exactly what she was doing and likely does it often.

NEVER give special treatment to someone who isn't a regular. It's one of the basic rules when you work with food.
