Today, while teaching my high school class about astronomy, I showed them a picture of earth from space. One girl raised her hand, and asked me what the "white things" were. In other words, clouds. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom saw a picture of the moon and asked me what "those big spots" were. She actually thought the craters were continents and tried correcting me when I told her what they were. Then I almost got into trouble for being disrespectful. FML
Today, in astronomy class, a kid used Uranus in a hilarious innuendo. I was the only one who laughed. I also happen to be the teacher. FML
Today, as a science teacher, I did a science experiment in front of a class. One of my students asked me if it was "photoshopped." He was being serious. FML
Today, it was the first day of astronomy class and we all waited for the professor to enter the classroom. All of a sudden, someone turns the lights off, it's pitch black, and we hear the professor saying, "Greetings earthlings..." It's going to be a long semester. FML
Today, while teaching my history class, a girl asked me where North America was. She lives in North America. FML
Today, in class I was teaching 6 year olds about the difference between short and tall, and I asked them how they could see that I was shorter than the other teacher. One of them raised their hand and said it was because I'm fatter. FML
Today, I stepped outside the house with my wife. She looked up at the sky and asked me in all seriousness if stars are man-made. FML
Stop staring!
Today, my 5-year-old told me that she'd learnt about gravity, then asked, “So when you fall down, is it because the Earth punched you?” I said yes, along with a giggle. Later at the supermarket, she tripped and screamed, “THE EARTH HIT ME AGAIN!” I was then reminded of high school when it felt like everyone was staring at me. FML
Taking pictures
Today, I was teaching a high school calculus class. I wrote a complex formula on the board. As I wrote, students asked if they could take a picture of the board and circulate it. I said yes, and I was pleased as everybody seemed to be taking pictures. Soon, I realized why: my skirt was tucked into my underwear. Within a few minutes, every student in the school had an email with a picture of my ugliest pair of floral-printed panties. FML
Today, my college class was talking about Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from the edge of space down to earth. A boy suddenly put his head up and said in a serious tone, "I thought he jumped from the moon?" Several girls concurred. This is my generation. FML

Why didn't the teacher just tell her it was clouds? Dumbass....
Freeze_fml 17
Why are you assuming he or she didn't?
fthislyfe 22
Well, you're a teacher. It's your job to tell them what the "white things" are.
jpallan 3
"My high school class" implies that this person *is* the teacher and is forced to deal with a student this … brilliant at the high school level.
LiveLaughFML 10
at least she didn't ask what the "blue things" were.

Some chick from my high school days asked our teacher why people have gone to the moon but not the sun. My teacher answered, "Because the sun is too hot and they would burn up." The chick replied, "So why not go at night?" It was then that I realised just how screwed my generation is.

Oh and it was the same chick who asked, "How do you spell HIV?" I wanted to stab my ears with a fork.

BellaBelle: They are old jokes!
BellaBelle_fml 23
I honestly think this girl was serious though. She was constantly asking these types of questions.

BellaBelle: I mean, you're stealing jokes and pretending they actually happened to you. While you're lying. I'm sorry.

Haha everyone has dumb moments. I remember the funniest thing my friend asked me one day if we won the revolutionary war!!! And we were in 10th grade, I'm like do we have British accents?

I fear for the future of our world. There is a totally new breed of dumbasses.

Also, my cousin, when he was a senior, he was learning about watergate. When he heard that nixon bugged the democrats headquarters, he asked how they got rid of them: if they called an exterminator.

Was she blonde(sarcastic tons based from the stereotype blondes are stupid)? Seriously though, that is quite dumb...

Tone*
DropTheDaggerxx 31
Explaining that you're being sarcastic and what it's based on ruins any comedic effect it may have had. In this case it wasn't amusing regardless, so not much of a loss, eh? OP.. haha, I love stupid people.

Haha. Ahh. Good good.

I'm blonde and I'm pretty smart ; but your comment was really stupid and you can't even use the excuse that you're a blonde. But OP that's not very good that they don't know that, lol
mgsoloist 14
Thanks. I'm blonde. We can just ignore all my AP classes and standardized test scores and all that stuff. I guess I'm doomed for life.
trevishere 7
I know a blonde who has never had a B. if anything, blondes are the smart ones.
TheRealEllieSan 9
You realize that by taking the comment seriously you are actually perpetuating the stereotype, no?
RunnerDudeTyler 0
Maybe if you paid attention you'd know by sarcastic tone, I meant that blondes weren't stupid and that was a stereotype, but I guess you tried to make it true.
aligiorav 11
It doesn't matter how much attention we paid to it. It was still really poor sarcasm
Link5794 18
127, nobody can take someone seriously if their profile picture is a shirtless mirror photo. Unless it's a girl, that is.

That's just a generalization. There are some really smart highschoolers too. It's been the same way for forever, but maybe you can't remember.

The white stuff doesnt necessarily mean they are all clouds, could be dust particles. Maybe she just wanted you to explain and there's nothing with wanting to learn.
sdroze1389 31
ha I got negative votes for saying this regarding something equally stupid.
mistersheezy 7
I think you're doing a good job, teach. Not!!!
Zomg_Okay 27
The teacher probably is doing a good job, 11. Its not the fault of a teacher if a high school student doesn't know what a cloud is.
tk1235 0
right because it's the teachers fault if kids are completely retarded?
liquidSELECT 0
Our education system is just fine
cBlackout 13
I think that in this case, the student is at fault not the education system . Anybody with common sense knows that.
daminantion 14
Should've been a Canadian. We teach clouds in grade one, lulz
DamnSmooth 0
Instruct your class to find out what happens when they mix electricity & water. Society will thank you for it.
Fx13mz 7
Better yet, tell them that bleach and ammonia gets them high.
s0m3guy2010 21
It does absolutely nothing unless they touch it.
DamnSmooth 0
Don't worry, it's a 'hands on' type of experiment. You should sign up for it.
hunterspicer55 0
You are a dumb ass damnsmooth. Maybe you should try that 'hands on' experiment yourself
