Today, while swimming under water, my 80-pound lab thought I was drowning and tried to "rescue" me by jumping in after me, wrapping his front legs around my neck, and standing on my chest. FML

I love dogs and it's reasons like these why I do. A cat would never do that. But dogs try to rescue you. Amazing.

The cat I had as a kid did save my life once. Cats might seem more independent or even selfish in day to day life, but they are actually very compassionate animals.

Possibly in preparation of the "hind lick" manor ry?

Possibly in preparation to perform the " hind lick " maneuver?

My stupid lab does that too

I honestly thought this story was going to end with the dog trying to hump you

Are you sure he wasn't trying to drown you OP? Just kidding, it's great that he attempted to help.

Your dog is best.
