Today, while sorting through my clothes, I found one of my ex's old sweaters. After a lot of thought and difficulty, I threw it out. I felt empowered, until my father later rifled through my trash and claimed the sweater for himself. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to a thrift store and found heaps of clothes that I loved that fit me perfectly. Then I found a special distinctive dress. My dress. My dad had thrown away heaps of my clothes and I had to buy them all back. FML
Nice neighborhood
Today, after my ex broke up with me, I threw out all the clothes he’d bought me before, which was basically my entire wardrobe. Anyway, this creepy guy who lives a few blocks away seems to be wearing my old clothes and waves my bras and panties at me. It’s gross and creepy. FML
Cruel
Today, after spending the weekend together, my ex turned nasty. I finally had the balls to tell him what a cruel asshole I think he is and really hit him where it hurts. I felt very empowered and strong. That is, until I realized I left my favourite and rather expensive jacket in his apartment. FML
Love Will Tear our T-shirt Apart
Today, I did my laundry at a laundromat. When I came back to get my clothes, I found an elderly man wearing my favorite Joy Division t-shirt, and he refused to give it back because he said it was his. I spent a few minutes arguing with him, before realizing I had grabbed someone else's clothes too. FML
Gifted
Today, I put all my clothes into two piles. One pile had clothes I usually wear, the other clothes I wanted to donate. When I was done, I put the piles into two jumbo trash bags. I came back a bit later and they both were gone. My mom donated both bags. I have no clothes. FML
Today, I found out where a few of my favorite outfits went. My mother had taken them out of my closet, wrapped them, and given them to my cousin as a gift. FML
Today, my mom yelled at me for going through her closet for some warmer clothes. She had a rant about taking her clothes without her permission, all while wearing a pair of my boots and one of my sweaters. FML
Today, while I was at work, my husband threw out 50 out of my 70 T-shirts, all of my tank tops, and all but one of my sweaters. I'm not getting them back because they're burning in a bonfire in the backyard. FML
Today, I found out that my ex-boyfriend stole a pair of my underwear, and still wears them to this day. FML
Dodged a bullet
Today, I went through the stuff that I'd left at my ex’s place and started unpacking it. I found a pair of another girl's panties. We broke up a little over a week ago. FML

Good for you for getting rid of it OP! Maybe you should have a talk with your dad about how him keeping the sweater makes you uncomfortable.

But why pick one out of the trash?

Maybe he thought it looked cool and wanted to keep it. Possible he also didn't know it was her exes at the time.

Maybe op seeing her dad wearing it will help make her care less about her ex lol

If I was the father and my daughter said "hey dad, yea that's so and so's sweatshirt, the one who broke my heart" I'd burn the damn sweatshirt myself.

OP can always go and find it in the lanudry bin. then take it outside pour a bit of gasoline over it and make smores

Why does she have to destroy it? Her father obviously likes the sweater. The only reason she wants to destroy it is because her ex wore it. That is irrational.

And have a talk about digging through the trash.

That's going to be a terrible reminder

You don't dig through the trash to find clothes? That's how I found my favorite pair of underwear! Nothing better than good ol' dumpster undies..

Finders keepers. In another sense that does suck. That reminder will always be there now. FYL Op.

Maybe explain to him that seeing the sweater brings back memories that you don't want to be reminded of. Just buy him a new one from Old Navy and he'll forget about it, OP.

Why get attached to inanimaye objects, topped with the fact that its an EX thus it didnt work out?
rockne93 17
Take it out of his dresser and get rid of it the right way, OP. Nothing like a good ole bon fire starter.

The extra musk Eau De Ex should make it burn up real good.

Damn, must have been a nice sweater.

It sounds like your dad does that often...
eddeeezzyy 19
Why worry over this when you can just simply go into your father's bedroom, take the sweater, drive far far away, light it on fire, and then bury the ashes of it 10 feet into the ground.
ihateallofyou1 9
It sounds like so much work though.
eddeeezzyy 19
Indeed, it is.

Gas is too expensive to drive far far away lol.

I dont think many girls would dig a 10 foot hole in the ground
baref00tmama 15
Most PEOPLE wouldn't dig a 10-foot hole. One's ability to dig is not hampered by gender.
