Today, while on a vacation, I tried to step out of myself and flirt with this boy who I thought was cute. He was going along with it and nodding so I thought it was working. Then he opened his mouth and I realized he didn't speak English. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
No comprendo
Today, I got lost in a foreign city while on vacation and couldn't communicate with anyone, because I didn't speak the language and no one seemed to be able, or even wanted, to speak to me in mine. FML
Today, I was on vacation, when a very cute guy starting talking to me and asked me what my name was. Overwhelmed and stressed out, I blurted out that I didn't have one. FML
Brain melt
Today, I was talking to my best friend about a cute guy that girls are afraid to even speak to, so I then decided to march right up to him and say hello. When he smiled at me, I stood there with my mouth wide open, but I made non-coherent words. He asked me if I was a foreign exchange student. FML
Truth bomb
Today, I showed up at my boyfriend's work to surprise him by speaking in Spanish, his first language. I've been taking classes secretly. He smiled, kissed me, and then finished telling his friend, in Spanish, that I'm boring and ugly but he's got nothing better going on. FML
Today, I found out that my German wasn't as great as I thought it was. Trying to give directions to some German tourists, I tried to say, "I hope I don't get you lost." Turns out I actually said something closer to, "I hope I don't seduce you." FML
Nice try
Today, I tried to "trip" and fall into this guy I've had a crush on. I missed and fell on my face. He stepped over me and kept walking. FML
I heard that
Today, I organised a romantic day trip for me and my boyfriend to some tropical gardens. I packed lunch and paid for the tickets. He decided to bring a friend, who doesn't speak English. The only thing that he said that I understood was that, "Your girlfriend eats a lot." FML
Come again?
Today, I emotionally confessed my feelings to the guy I like. His English isn't that good, so he asked me to repeat myself several times. He ended up saying no. FML
Back home
Today, I returned to Germany for a break from my studies abroad. I got lost while out for groceries, so I tried asking a guy for directions. I went totally blank and strained to think of the right words, prompting him to mutter about rude foreigners not bothering to learn the local language. FML
Today, I had to use a dictionary before I realized I was being flirted with. FML

Flash him your boobs. Now that's a language everyone can understand.

FYL because that must have been embarrassing, but there's definitely something sexy about not being able to understand each other and having to rely on alternative methods of communication ;)

And who cares? I mean, this isn't really an FML. So someone (probably not your true love or live of your life) didn't speak English. No big deal.

i would have taught him how to say "Oh god!" and "yes, yes!"

You should have started speaking the universal language. Remember, you're not "hiring a prostitute," you're just outsourcing your sex life.

Of course if women ever just shut up for three seconds and let the guys get a word in edgewise, they'd never have this problem.

So you wanted to hook up with some dude in another country that you'll never see again? Thankfully, every language seems to have a word for you. It is ****. And just to show how much of an idiot you are, most countries throw stones at you until you are dead. Only america loves easy ******.

She could have easily been on vacation in the country she lives in, but approached a person who did not speak English. Either way, she wanted to have fun, it does not make her a ****. And how come SHE'S the ****, but he is not? **** **** shaming and **** the inherit sexism.

Just because the OP was flirting doesn't mean he or she wanted to hook up. It was probably good that the OP was finding it easier to be outgoing because he or she was away from home. This does NOT make the OP a *****. And it sucks that the person turned out to not speak the same language, or was a dick who was pretending to not know English.

i don't really see the FML in this. so you flirted with someone who doesn't speak english.... so what? half of flirting is body language anyway. ...also, now you can blame being rejected on the fact that they just didn't understand you.
