Today, while I was at work, I was on the verge of tears. My coworker asked what was wrong and I explained that I recently had to put my dog down. He then replied, "Cool story, bro. Tell it again." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Heartless
Today, my coworker said her dog died. Without thinking, I tried to cheer her up and said, “Oh man, that’s rough. Get it? Ruff? Ruff ruff!” and giggled like a schoolgirl. Nobody laughed. My coworker burst into more tears. I have a Teams video meeting with my supervisor and HR this afternoon. FML
Galaxy brain
Today, I found out my boss wrote me up because he heard me crying on the phone, and that it was unprofessional. I was talking to my sister, who was telling that me my father had died. Three weeks ago, he was crying about his dog breaking his leg. FML
The Rainbow Bridge
Today, at my job at a pet store, my boss told me to go outside and hand out flyers. I saw a man sitting on a bench and walked up, saying, "Hi! Do you have a pet?" He teared up and said, "I just put her down this morning." FML
Today, at work, I misheard a customer telling me a story. To be polite, I did a slight laugh and nodded my head. She actually told me her mum had died. FML
Busted
Today, I was at work, reading some funny stories on my phone. Just as one of my co-workers decided to share that his father had passed away recently, I burst into uncontrollable, teary-eyed laughter at a story. They don't believe my explanation, and have branded me the office asshole. FML
Unrequited callousness
Today, I heard that my crush’s dog had died. For some reason, my first instinct when I saw him was to say, “Oh my god, I heard that your dog died!” He started crying. FML
Today, I shared the story of my younger brother's unexpected death with a friend. After telling him the story, I looked at him with teary eyes and he looked back into my eyes and said "I understand how you feel. That is almost as bad as when I lost my cat last spring term." FML
Up and down
Today, I had to explain to my boss that the reason I was sobbing hysterically as she told me that I was getting a pay raise was because I was going to the vet to have my sick and dying cat put down. Good news at a bad time. FML
Today, my friends thought it would be hilarious to show me Marley and Me the day right after I had to put down my dog. I had my dog for 11 years. FML
Today, I was crying at my desk at work. My colleague tried to cheer me up by saying: "Don't worry, I'm sure you will find a new job soon". I didn't even know I was fired. I was crying because my cat died this morning. FML

That's when you punch him in the face.

that would probably create more problems than it would solve

or go below the belt where he will really regret what he said
not_a_robot 15
I wouldn't care how many problems it causes, it would solve the biggest one. Him, that is.

People who say "cool story bro" are not my friend so I don't talk to them. A sad story is not cool so wth?

You spelled "punch him in the throat" wrong, but either area will due.

#94 That's like if someone that you are close to dies and than I say cool story bro, there is nothing cool about that.

If I had been going for the word throat, then yes..I definitely would have messed that up big time. No. Face.

Ignore the douchecandle. He isn't worth your time. He'll probably never have a bond like you had with your dog, and may your dog RIP.

Douchecandle? How unique.
Shenanigans9 8
Sounds like it could be... painful. Especially if the candle's lit.

This comment could have, almost, had a chance. If only you had gotten the phrase right...

Kick him in the balls. when he's on the verge of tears ask him what's wrong, then reply "cool story bro, tell it again" see how he likes it
fuzz97 23
no, that's a dumb idea, don't do that please
teentee401 37
Are you kidding that's a genius idea

Something tells me you didn't tell it again..

People have no sympathy these days...
Shenanigans9 8
That's an anecdotal fallacy. Taking one isolated incident, or a story and saying that it represents the whole, or in this case 8 billion people.
SharnaaaBanana 22
Wow.. Do you have to be straightforward? I'm guessing you've never heard of generalization? Or in your case a hyperbole?
shelbzlynn 14
Ah, I meant some people. My mistake :)

What a cold hearted person your colleague is.
