Today, the sprinklers in the hotel room came on and stayed on. There was no fire. My family is currently living in the hotel, so everything we own is soaked. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, someone tripped the fire alarm at the hotel I'm currently staying at while I was taking a shit. FML
Damp, dark night
Today, I'm staying in a hotel. The power went out while I was having a shower. So I waited for it to come back on, until an announcement came over the fire alarm, "Due to generating failure, the power will be off for the rest of the night. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and have a good night." FML
Soaked
Today, I came home to my bed and most of my room soaking wet. This morning, my mom thought it would be "smart" to warm up my room by opening the skylight above my bed. There were heavy showers all day today. FML
Today, the toilet on the top floor of my house burst, soaked the bathroom, and water dripped down into the kitchen and the basement for hours when nobody was home. Eight blowers and a dehumidifier later, the house is about 90 degrees and I can't leave. FML
Today, after house sitting for my future father-in-law and managing to keep things spotless for 3 weeks, a pipe burst. It flooded the place and shorted out a plug socket, causing a fire that ruined the front room. He gets home in 3 hours. I'm screwed. FML
Today, the fire alarm went off in my dorm. Not only was it 30 degrees outside, but I was in the shower. FML
Perfect guests
Today, I'm living in a hotel and my mum took a fat dump, clogging the toilet. When she tried to plunge it, it began overflowing. I had to start running in and out with trash and clean the room as fast as possible so that they didn't have any extra reasons to kick us out. Turns out they can't do anything tonight. FML
Power shortage
Today, on vacation with family, the power goes off in the middle of the night. I wake up as the A/C starts dripping on my head. No air, wet pillow, can't sleep, but I decide to tough it out until morning rather than wake everyone. In the morning, I discovered my sister had hit the breaker because she couldn't find the light switch. FML
This old house
Today, the smoke alarm went off while I was in the shower. Fearing a house fire, I jumped out and ran out, wearing just a tiny towel that barely covered my modesty, only to realize that water was coming through the ceiling and on to the smoke alarm, via a leak in the shower tray. FML
Drying times
Today, I took a shower in a beach house we're renting for the week. Once I get out, I realize the house doesn't supply towels, my entire family was outside in the front yard, my phone was upstairs, and there are no blinds. I stood under a ceiling fan naked for 20 minutes trying to dry off. FML

Better than having the whole place burn down and lose everything. Sucks though.

It was Zach's fault! Get your mom from the lounge where she's singing and Mr. Mosby to kick his ass! Life's not so suite when everything's soaked, is it?

even your car?!?!? I understand clothes, personal items that can't be washed, but your car?!?!? I mean, you DO own a car, right?

it would be better if you said why you were living in a hotel... more opportunity for irony or jokes. a bunch of wet stuff isn't particularly funny or fml worthy since you can't have that much stuff...

44 - People who fail at grammar piss me off more than people who get pissed off by my posts. Unfortunately, you fit in both categories. Learn to conjugate verbs, and learn to take a joke.

google shows one and ONLY one mention of Hottleforing on the ENTIRE internet... this page. And offers no spelling corrections. Also, 0 results for Hotelforing. I think you just invented it on the spot. Anyways.. OP, this totally sucks. Everything you own being destroyed by water like that.

don't be an idiot, this post says nothing about a car, not everyone owns a car, therefore, how do you know they own one or not?

You must not have a lot if you fit it ALL into a hotel room. I'm sorry though.

They could be homeless, sometimes the church or the redcross will pay for them to stay at a hotel for a few weeks untill they can find a job and a place to live!

#7 - it happens all the time. In my own case, my Dad was in the military, and we'd often end up in a hotel for a month or so at the beginning or end of postings either because housing wasn't ready, or was needed by someone else. I've also had to live in a hotel for months at a time due to work in other countries. In that case, you don't have everything you own with you, but you certainly take more than normal. The most I've ever had to spend in a hotel was three and a half months, but I know people that have done it for just short of a year.

We lived in a hotel for about a month while we were renovating our home. We didn't have a whole lot there though, just the essentials and a couple laptops. Oh and my father who was dying/died of cancer while we were there. But that's a whole unpublished FML that's probably too long and depressing to fit in the FML character limit.
