Today, the kids I teach informed me that I had spelled my name incorrectly on the board. I looked at it and assured them that I had spelled it correctly. I'm 22 and a graduate student, they're six and mentally challenged. Guess who was right? FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Slipping up
Today, I was teaching a class when a student pointed out that I'd used the wrong "your/you're" while writing on the board. FML
Hey! Teachers! Leave those kids alone!
Today, while grading my kindergarteners' spelling tests, one kid spelled all the words wrong, including his name. FML
Today, I was reading a picture storybook to a kindergarten kid. She could pronounce more words than me, and corrected me. I'm about triple her age. FML
Today, it was the last day of school, and I said goodbye to one of my students. She then told me how to correctly pronounce her name. I'd said it wrong all year. FML
Today, one of my students corrected the problem I had solved on the board, explaining that you do multiplication before subtraction. I teach the second grade. FML
Birth certificate
Today, I found out I've been misspelling my middle name for 25 years. FML
Overconfident
Today, my 10-year-old niece asked me how to spell "embarrassing." I confidently spelled it out. She giggled and said, "No, that's wrong." She was right, and to make matters a tad ironic, I'd just finished bragging about winning a spelling bee back in middle school. FML
Underfunded and underappreciated
Today, I got back the essay I wrote about how my country's education system is fucked. At one point, I made a spelling mistake. My teacher wrote a note about it, basically calling me illiterate, and telling me to pay attention in school instead of whining about it. She misspelled "school". FML
Dunning-Kruger
Today, I confidently corrected someone in a group conversation. I was wrong. Very wrong. Everyone stared while Google proved me incorrect in seconds. I nodded and pretended I meant something else. FML
My favorite letter is L
Today, my 8 year-old niece and I were arguing over how many letters were in the alphabet. Guess who was right. FML

#20 - no, YOU failed. Please have your sense of humor checked, I think it may be broken.

there is some mystic power emitted from chalkboards/whiteboards that leaves people unable to spell correctly... especially in front of people.

Lol. #14 and 20, you guys fail. #7 was inserting a bit of sarcastic humor in the conversation, and you two obviously missed it. Well done to #7.

i hope that was the first time that's happened... because that's just embarrassing. at least it was in front of six year olds, they'll forget it as soon as someone pees their pants or something.
