Hey! Teachers! Leave those kids alone!
Today, while grading my kindergarteners' spelling tests, one kid spelled all the words wrong, including his name. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was teaching a class when a student pointed out that I'd used the wrong "your/you're" while writing on the board. FML
Today, the kids I teach informed me that I had spelled my name incorrectly on the board. I looked at it and assured them that I had spelled it correctly. I'm 22 and a graduate student, they're six and mentally challenged. Guess who was right? FML
Today, the boy I tutor failed his math test. As a result, the family fired me. The boy failed because he forgot to write his name at the top. FML
Today, in the class I'm teaching, I assigned my students an essay to complete for homework. One student asked me if I was deducting points for bad spelling. I teach English. FML
Today, while I was taking a test in class, there was a question that had everyone stumped. After what seemed like forever, the teacher finally noticed and said he'd typed the question wrong. I spent more than half the time I had to complete the test on a question that wasn't even written correctly. Yes, I failed. FML
Today, it was the last day of school, and I said goodbye to one of my students. She then told me how to correctly pronounce her name. I'd said it wrong all year. FML
Today, I had to re-grade a student's assignments because neither he, nor his parents can read "Spanish." I'd written in cursive. FML
Today, I'm grading final projects for a junior level college class. A student finally turned in their work, after months of encouragement and coaxing. Half of it was plain wrong, the rest had so many spelling and grammatical mistakes, it appeared to be written by a drunk autocorrect program. FML
Today, I got back the essay I wrote about how my country's education system is fucked. At one point, I made a spelling mistake. My teacher wrote a note about it, basically calling me illiterate, and telling me to pay attention in school instead of whining about it. She misspelled "school". FML
Today, I realized I had misspelled "Education" on all the resumes I've been submitting. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

I have a dyslexic child who has a hard time learning to read. It is comments like this that have made us realize we will never get any help from the education system. He only got diagnosed because we did it privately. We are learning how to teach a dyslexic to read, there brains learn differently, because nobody else is going to help.

He didn't spell them "wrong" -- he just used "alternative spellings." Sounds like he has a promising future as a Starbucks barista, where the ability to misspell names is an asset, not a problem.

I'm so sorry the education system has failed your kiddo 😔 I agree wholeheartedly with your comment.

I guess you're not much of a teacher then.

I was thinking the same thing. Poor kid gets stuck with a teacher who whines about him online instead of caring enough to help him identify the problem and learn... which happens to be her literal job!

Future Mensa candidate right there.. but seriously, they say Albert Einstein was a poor student too, so who knows? Some kids are late bloomers.

making spelling mistakes in kindergarten hardly makes you a "late bloomer"

You teach kindergarten, what did you expect? By the way the kid might have learning disabilities, what kind of teacher are you?

I mean, it's kindergarten...not college. Jesus give the kids a break. that all falls on you and how YOU been teaching them.

so instead of getting annoyed with this child who possibly has a learning disability you need to figure out how to help them through their struggles or find someone who can. as someone who grew up with a learning disability and had teachers AND peers making me feel like absolute shit every day for not understanding things the way I was "supposed to" all I'm going to say is PLEASE do better, educate yourself or find a different career path. as a parent of a child who also has a learning disability I would be livid if I had seen theur teacher (especially kindergarten) speaking this way about my child. as I said before, do better.

Why the **** is your administration making you give spelling tests to KINDERGARTENERS? At that age they're still figuring out that A is For Apple and how to not shit their pants in the classroom. Your administration is ridiculous.
