Today, over a year on from my parents telling me my dog had died, I went to the shelter to volunteer, and saw my old dog. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found the dog I lost while I was dog sitting. It was with its new adoptive family. FML
Brief encounter
Today, I decided to adopt a 11 year-old dog that had been in need of a home for several months. Two hours after I got him home, I discovered him dead in the backyard. FML
Today, I saw my dad for the first time in almost five years, at his funeral. FML
Today, my new dog unburied my old dog and chewed on his bones. FML
Today, at the rescue group I volunteer at, we finally adopted out a dog that has been with us for a few years now. This was an amazing thing for us because we never thought he'd get adopted. As we were getting excited and hugging each other, the dog ran away. FML
Today, I returned home from college for the first time in a month. I went to my bedroom and found a nice gift bag on my dresser. Thinking it was a Valentine's gift, I opened it. My dog's ashes were in a tin inside. This is how I found out my dog died since I was away. FML
The Rainbow Bridge
Today, at my job at a pet store, my boss told me to go outside and hand out flyers. I saw a man sitting on a bench and walked up, saying, "Hi! Do you have a pet?" He teared up and said, "I just put her down this morning." FML
Am I the asshole?
Today, for National Pet Day, we had a pet show and tell at work. A colleague of mine showed us a picture of her lemon tree. I remember she had a dog and wondered why she didn’t bring him, so I asked why didn’t she show her dog. Turns out he passed away a month ago. She burst into tears and ran off. FML
That's just cruel
Today, my mom told me to go meet a rescue dog. After doing all my research and emailing shelters left and right, I finally got a call. It went well! Then, my mom told me it would never happen. I'm still expecting several emails from the shelters I contacted, so I get to relive this pain. FML
Today, I took my 17 year-old dog, who had been my best friend my entire life right from when I was born, to be euthanised. I had booked in advance. The vet ambled in all spritely and cheerfully asked, "Just here for a checkup, aye?" FML

You should keep dropping hints about how this one dog looks particularly like your old one until they confess.

I didn't think a dog could stay in a shelter that long, I thought the got euthanized after like a month or two
ShyAnn29 15
Some shelters are a no kill shelter, meaning they don't euthanize the animals

If that was me I'd do anything to get my dog back

What if it had a distinction? Like a scar, or it recognized him?

Most dogs don't look exactly alike, and when you own a dog, and lose it, and then see it again, you just know it.

And the dog recognizes the master

an animal is like your family member, I'm pretty sure op would notice if the dog was ops or not.. I take it you've never had a sincere pet b4.

They could have dumped the dog and it just recently was taken to the shelter by someone else.

I have two dogs, and if one of them went missing, I'm 100% sure I could recognize him a year later.

just like you can tell your children apart from others, a person can tell their dog apart from others.

Get him and go home and say "he came from the dead".

Tell your new employer about this. Usually people have to leave their names when dropping off an animal. If your employer is heartless then you should adopt your dog back and move out the first chance you get.

It must be fate. I guess "the truth came out." your parents need a lesson.

What is with all these parents hating/getting rid of their children's pets, and then lying to them about it? Parents are supposed to be an example, but all these parents are just teaching their kids it's ok to lie.
zuzupetalsYO 11
My parents didn't lie to me, they told me they were doing it, and with not much warning. I miss my Sasha sausagehead.
