Today, my friend, who had begged me to buy them a plane ticket after being stranded overseas, blocked me. They didn't even use the ticket. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I thought I was doing a nice thing when I spent hundreds of dollars to get my friend a plane ticket home. She yelled at me when I gave it to her. Turns out, she planned on spending a few more months freeloading off me. FML
Taylor comes first
Today, I found out on Facebook that my supposed best friend bought a concert ticket to a show. The concert ticket cost the exact same amount as the plane ticket she told me she couldn't afford to come see me. FML
Today, I wasn't able to reply to Facebook chat message immediately, so my friends planned a holiday and bought flights without me. FML
Bad friend
Today, I went to the airport to pick up my friend. It wasn't until I got there that I realized I'd come on the wrong day. Her flight arrived yesterday, so that explains her radio silence for the past two days. I just thought she was in transit, but turns out she's pissed at me and wants me to pay for the Uber ride she had to take home from the airport. FML
Empty seat
Today, I booked a flight to see my girlfriend. At least I thought she was coming, the flight isn't cancellable because I was broke and could only afford the minimum ticket. I just wanted to make her happy. Well, it's now four days before the flight and I haven't heard from her for a week. I've been left on 'delivered', thinking at 4 am. FML
All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go
Today, I had to cancel a plane ticket to a friend's wedding, because first he gave me the wrong date, after which his fiancée cut me from the guests because of Covid safety. Instead of paying $600 to be in the ceremony, I'm paying $400 to not go anywhere because the ticket could only be partially refunded. FML
Good riddance
Today, my ex-best friend reached out just to be a dick. We all had tickets to a concert and she decided that she didn't want to go. She said that I could find someone to sell her ticket to, and I did, but then she sold it to someone that I'm not friends with anymore, and told me that she "can do whatever she wants :)". FML
Thanks, I hate it
Today, a friend texted me to get a ticket and go to a theme park with her tomorrow. I bought a ticket and didn't hear from her until 5 hours later to say she was sorry, but she doesn't think she'll be going. It was $65 and non refundable. FML
Not really a good sign
Today, my long distance girlfriend of 6 months, who landed in Canada last week, and for whom I was supposed to travel from Toronto to Vancouver next week to meet her for the first time, blocked me. FML
I love that for you
Today, my long distance friend-with-benefits informed me she's now in a relationship with an amazing guy. I should be happier for her, as even I admit he is perfect for her. Too bad I just spent over a thousand dollars on plane tickets to visit her. The tickets are completely nonrefundable. FML

Are you aware it probably wasn’t your friend, but a scammer hacking their account? This is a typical one - “stranded overseas and need help”.

Just to confirm what others have posted. Your friend's e-mail has been hacked. You have sent money to a scammer, not to your friend. You should try to contact your friend some other way (e.g. phone) to warn him/her what is going on. A friend of mine shelled out GBP1250. I hope you paid less.

You’ve been scammed. Call the airline and see if you can get credit for your own future travel.

Did you give your bank info to the Nigerian Prince who wants to share his riches with you too ?? Report it OP, i doubt you'll get it back but it's worth a shot, just don't be so gullible next time Unless we all got the wrong end of the stick and your friend used you for some unknown reason or purpose
