Today, my mum called and told me she had bought me a new, white dish washer for my apartment because it doesn't have one. I was SO excited and told her I'd pay her back as soon as I could. I only had to pay her $1.25. She bought me a sponge. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after doing vigorous chores all day with my girlfriend, her mom came and paid us each $100. My girlfriend cried and threw a fit because she said they were her chores, so she deserves all the money. FML
Today, my mum bought a boat. She still hasn’t paid me back the $1000 she owes me. FML
Today, I told my mom I had 73 cents in my checking account. She gave me a penny and told me I had 74 cents and it was even now. Thanks mom. FML
Today, my wife gave me my Christmas gift, a novelty kitchen sponge, then suggested I try it out on the sink full of dishes. FML
Today, was my mom's birthday. I recently got my first job, thanks to her, and could finally afford to buy her something nice. I spent my first paycheck ever on buying her a very nice bracelet. She said it was nice, then asked if I would mind if she exchanged it for one she actually liked. FML
Today, I noticed my dishwasher wouldn't turn on. After shelling out $120 call-out fee, I was a little miffed when the technician walked in, pressed the 'unlock' function and walked out again. FML
Today, my mother gave me an early Christmas present; a Bissell mop so I can "do a better job" when I "clean her floors". FML
Today, it's been months that my mom has owed me $174, and every time I ask she tells me she's too poor to pay me back. Girly bought an entire 180k dollar farm with my grandparents the day after I asked (also the money was used for gas, and she guilt tripped me into giving it to her). FML
Today, my mom came over for dinner. She lost her mind, screaming and yelling, because my oven melted the dollar store cooking dish that she insisted on using. Never mind the fact I’m going to have to pay a couple hundred, if not a thousand dollars for a new stove. Oh no, she’s out a whole buck. FML
Today, my parents said that they bought me a car. I had been begging for one for a year and they always said that I would have to pay for it myself. I got really excited and went to the garage to see my new ride. It was a Hot Wheels car with a note saying, "Save your money". FML

Why is it that parents think it's so damn funny to trick their kids into thinking they bought them a large gift when they actually bought them something small? Doesn't sound like anything but a good way to get your kid to resent the hell out of you, if you ask me. And no, I'm not saying kids ought to expect any large gifts from their parents, but I still think it's entirely unnecessary to trick your child into thinking they're getting something they're not.

I don't think it was bitchy. A bit misleading though. OP, why would you expect her to buy you a dishwasher? By moving out on your own,shouldn't you be financially responsible for yourself? She may have misled you but YDI for thinking she just up and bought you a dishwasher. Besides, what's wrong with doing dishes the "manual" way?

A dishwasher saves a lot of water though, compared to washing dishes by hand in the sink. Think of an automatic car wash, where it reuses the water throughout the whole day, and you get the idea. That said, I would never move into a place without a dishwasher, unless I had no choice. I hate cleaning, and I hate washing dishes even more.

I don't know about you, but I pay one set price for water here so it's not a huge issue... my dishwasher doesn't work though, my landlord tricked me by having a portable one so that I THOUGHT I'd have a dishwasher. Washing by hand isn't that bad, just time consuming. Anyways, it was unnecessarily mean of her mom to get the OP's hope up.
