Today, my mother was reading an annual Christmas letter from an old university friend. When she remarked that she could have married him instead of my father, I replied that she wouldn't have had me then. She then said, "Exactly, I could have had his daughter instead." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my old man told me that he only married my mom because she convinced him she was pregnant with his child. In fact, she aborted a week later. "And then we had you instead." FML
Today, I thought my mom and I could put aside our differences and open our Christmas presents. When she opened mine, she turned to my dad and said she didn't want the present, so I could give it to someone else. 'Tis the season. FML
My life
Today, my mom got drunk and started crying, ranting about all the things she could have done in life if I hadn't been born. FML
Today, my 5-year-old daughter was asked by her teacher to write a letter to each member of her family to read during the holidays. Her letter to me said, "Dear mommy, come on. You could have done better than dad." FML
Blue Christmas
Today, my mum told me she would rather spend Christmas with her boyfriend than with her own family. FML
Today, my mom said that if I wasn't her daughter, she probably wouldn't even like me. FML
Time wasted
Today, my parents made a list of all the things they could have done had I not been born. FML
Today, my mother was talking about a holiday she went on this time last year. She turned to me to say, "You would've loved it, it's a shame you couldn't come". I was there. It was just the two of us on holiday together. FML
Thanks for nothing
Today, I asked my mother why she had me in the first place, as we never get along. She replied because my father wanted me. So, I called my father to ask him the same question, he said he only wanted to have me to keep my mother around, and that didn't work, so I was a waste. FML
As a matter of fact…
Today, my mother told me to my face that if she could do it all over again, she wouldn't have had kids. Thanks, Mum. It's not like I asked to be born. FML

Dear OP, This may seem crass, but congratulations! You've just *completely* earned the right to disregard your mother's feelings/desires/orders! Seriously- she betrayed you in almost every sense. I've not the time currently to flesh out the multiple ways hearing something like this must have hurt and/or implied, but suffice to say- what she said was a terrible thing that likely goes against everything in the good parenting handbook. I'd still play her game if you're underage and can't support yourself- but beyond keeping yourself fed, clothed, sheltered, and in school, you now officially owe this woman nothing. She's openly admitted that the one thing you *may* have owed her, is/was wholly irrelevant to her all along as a result of circumstance. If she truly feels this way about you and your father, you're both better off without her. GL deciding whether or not to tell your father. :-( FYL.

Shut up

you shut up Daniel. I know how it feels to be rejected and thrown away by a parent. You have no idea how much mental trauma it can put the person through. This commenter is right. so you can go play "hide and go f**k yourself".

There's a good parenting handbook?

46, haha good job! :D

Wow, you take things a little too seriously. Even if the mom was serious that's not a reason to denounce 16 or so years of parenting.

wow!!! how rude is your mom, marry christmas to you
emirie 21
Yes you should marry Christmas, he would probably make you very happy, and you wouldn't have to live with a mom that wishes she didn't have you!

I think you guys are reading into it too much. The mom was simply stating a fact.... No?
yerawizardlizzy 27
She was, and situations like these are the reason someone coined the phrase "The truth hurts." Just because she was merely stating facts doesn't mean it isn't hurtful.

That's not something HER kids should here
8born8 18
It's not something any kid should hear from their mother. Maternal instinct, some women have it, some women don't.

Your mom is a bitch OP. Only assholes talk about their kids like that
siinful5643 11
A bit harsh, eh? On a positive note.. You are here - even if your mom is a bitch about it. Sorry OP.

My reply would have been "And that type of attitude is why he didn't marry you."

She could have been joking. Merry Christmas!
