Today, my mother moved in to my 2-bedroom apartment with me. She brought her boyfriend, 4 chihuahuas, and 2 birds with her. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my flatmate moved in with me. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, so did her mother. FML
Today, I came home from a week-long vacation, only to find my mother-in-law didn't just dog-sit while I was gone; she moved in, along with all her possessions, and seems to think it's a permanent deal. FML
Time to run
Today, while I was looking for an apartment for my boyfriend and myself, he asked me how would I feel about his mom moving in together with us. FML
Manchild
Today, I moved in with my boyfriend. Up until now, I thought my cat was the only four year-old I had to deal with. FML
Preferential treatment
Today, my mom’s house has several comfortable places to rest in every room. For the cats and dogs, that is. Unfortunately for me, I'm a human. FML
Oh, hai Mark!
Today, my mom's "hobby" of rescuing homeless people became very real. We now have 3 more people living in our house, and none of them have a sense of personal space. I wake up to their faces in my windows. Thanks mom. FML
Today, my dad and I had to move in with my mom. There's only two tiny rooms, and my aunt lives there along with her dogs and my cat. The dogs have tried to kill my cat, I have to share the bed with my mom, who snores BAD, and I haven't slept in two days. I work early all week. FML
Tactfully, no
Today, my mother-in-law asked if she could move in with us. FML
All in the Family
Today, my mother brought home dinner for four people. I was not one of those people. The dog, however, was. FML
Put your foot down
Today, my boyfriend and I moved into our own house. He proceeded to invite his parents to stay for the week. The same parents we've lived with for the past 5 years. FML

It's your job to tell her what's okay and what's not in YOUR house. Just because she's family doesn't give her the right to push you around.

YDI for not having boundaries. Even if you have reason (maybe she's old or sick) to let HER stay, that does not require the rest. At least, not in those numbers.

It's good you're helping her out but I definitely agree that you need to put your foot down and tell her she can't just bring along many other guests. She might be down a hole because she needs a place to stay but that doesn't give her the right to take the piss.

OP, set boundaries IMMEDIATELY. I have been in a similar situation. Parents are used to being in charge of their kids. When the tables turn and the child is setting the rules, parents strongly resist changing the dynamic. But you must do so for your own sanity! Firmly tell her the rules she must follow to continue living with you and let her know that she will have to leave if she can't respect your rules. It sounds harsh, but it will be better for your both.
