Today, my grandpa passed away. The only emotion my dad showed was anger, because my grandpa owed my dad money. Now he wants to take it from my grandma, like he's some sort of mobster. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, on Judge Judy…
Today, my grandpa died suddenly. About a month ago, he gifted me a few thousand dollars to buy a used car. My uncle is now demanding I return it, saying I can't prove that my grandfather agreed to it, and that he wants his rightful share of the inheritance. FML
Tasty punishment
Today, my aunts found grandpa's will, which left everything to me and nothing to them, and his lawyer confirmed on the phone this was definitely grandpa's wish. My entire family now hate me and think I manipulated him. My grandpa has hated me my entire life, so I think this is his way of punishing me. FML
Where there's a will…
Today, my grandpa told my mom that he needs to rewrite his will soon. I jokingly said that I was going to be stinking rich when he passes away. He retorted that he's never forgiven me for rear-ending his car six years ago, and because of this, I'll never see a penny of his money. FML
Nice try
Today, my dad tried to charge me $3000 for a car that my dead grandma, his mother, left to me in her will. I have to live with this asshole. FML
Toxic masculinity
Today, my grandad smacked me on the back of the head, and told me to, "Act like a goddamn man and stop crying." It was at the funeral of my mum and sister, who both died in a car crash. FML
Today, I was at the reading of my grandma's will. Apparently I was removed from it some time ago, and the £2,500 I would have gotten went to my cheating bitch of an ex-fiancée. It seems my grandma adored her, and never forgave me for "driving her away" from the family. FML
What an asshole
Today, after I found out my uncle took me off my grandma's funeral program, I had to fight to speak. He spent the week taking out his jealousy and anger on me and my sister for being included in her funeral. To everyone else he's played the saint, and the whole family has no idea. FML
Free money for me, but not for thee
Today, my dad refuses to let me inherit all of his money, which might just put a roof over my head when I’m older. *His* money? Well, actually, he inherited it. FML
Foot in mouth
Today, my grandpa died. I called my grandma to make sure she was going to be fine. After talking over the phone for 30 minutes or so, I told her goodbye and said, out of habit, "Say hi to grandpa for me". FML
Drama alert
Today, I went to visit my grandparents, as my grandmother may not have long left. When my stepfather wasn't grilling my visibly uncomfortable grandad about Bible passages, my mother was trauma-dumping about how hard her life has been, and how awful her marriage to my father was. They're his parents. FML

Your Dad sounds like a real stand up guy.

I don't know your dad, but maybe that's him hiding pain? I'm sorry for your loss, though.

Should show him what true mobster life is like by beating the crap out of him.

I don't think this deserves down votes. Society tends to look down on men for appearing emotional. The only "acceptable" feelings to present being happiness and anger. Perhaps OP's father is unclear on how to express himself, and since he can't be happy became angry. He then needed a reason for his anger, so he chose money and labeled fixing the debt as a means of dealing with his grief/anger.

I would also like to say that I don't intend to be an armchair psychologist, simply assisting to explain #2's point.

My uncle did the same thing. Men are weird.

That is very selfish of him OP. I'm really sorry to hear that. He should be helping you and your grandmother through the loss. And I'm sorry for the loss of your grandpa.

Sure, steal from the grieving widow. Logical choice there.

married couples share finances. it sucks, but money owed should be money payed.

Money, the root of all evil. That, and cats.

Greed would be better than just saying money, not like the money is killing people. Ignorance will do that shit too

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil... Know your shit before you quote rhetorical prose that you have heard.

10, I bet there's a cat causing all of this! A cat probably killed OP's grandfather, and then convinced OP's dad to harass grandma for the money. Evil, evil feline!

Maybe I don't give a shit how accurate a quote is. And I wasn't quoting anything specific.

The OPs dad may not necessarily have no heart. The dad and grandpa may not have had a great relationship. They could have fallen out ages ago, and never made up. The granddad may have been awful to his son or vice versa. There's not enough information to judge anybody here.
cocacola999 27
OP's grandparents are not necessarily his father's parents, they could be from his mother's side and it's a really ******-up in-law relationship.

I agree. it may even be the amount of money too. If someone owed me a couple thousand dollars, I would want my money too. Although I would definitely wait for a bit after their death to hound their widow.

True. However, he now wants to go after the grieving grandmother to recover his funds. How about allowing a little time for recovery before starting collections?
