Today, my family decided to break tradition and wake up at midnight to open presents. I didn't find out until I went downstairs to get a glass of water in the middle of the night, and found wrapping paper and empty boxes everywhere. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I waited anxiously until midnight to open my Christmas presents. As the clock struck midnight, I ran out into the living room, super-excited to open them, only to discover that everyone in our house had already opened theirs, and had all gone to bed. FML
Merry Mystery Christmas!
Today, I wrapped all my Christmas gifts at midnight. In my exhaustion, I forgot to label them. On Christmas morning, everyone will open presents while I try to remember who was supposed to get socks versus who was supposed to get a coffee maker. FML
Today, my mom got drunk and decided to unwrap all my Christmas gifts and throw them at the wall. Ho, ho, ho. FML
Today, I woke up to find our Christmas tree knocked over, unwrapped presents scattered everywhere, and my mom passed out on the sofa with a bottle of booze. Merry Christmas. FML
Today, it's my mom's birthday. I woke up at midnight to be the first to tell her happy birthday. When I awoke in the morning, I decided to bake her a cake. Little did I know my whole family was going out to lunch to celebrate. I wasn't invited. FML
Merry Christmas!
Today, it's Christmas Day. Normally, my family would be opening gifts right now. Instead, my mom is holding our gifts hostage until we clean the house. Apparently, "The presents aren't going anywhere." FML
Today, after spending hours wrapping the presents for Christmas, I came back into the room to find that my dog had lost his toy, knocked over all the presents, and was frantically ripping at everything to find it. FML
It's a Christmas… Anticlimax
Today, I got dressed up in my best attire and drove an hour to my family Christmas, only to find out it was canceled, and nobody bothered to tell me. FML
Wake up
Today, it's my roommate's birthday. His friends were planning on a surprise birthday cake at midnight last night, and one of them told me about it, hoping to split the expense between us, which I was totally cool with. But I fell asleep before midnight and they didn't even bother to wake me up. FML
The war on Christmas
Today, I was wrapping Christmas presents while watching a terrible Netflix Christmas movie to get into the holiday spirit. Halfway through, I realized I had wrapped my scissors and tape inside one of the gifts. Now I’m sitting here with unwrapped gifts and a deep annoyance at Christmas all together. FML

What do you mean?! It's totally normal to open presents at midnight!

Some people do it, but OP's family doesn't usually do it, hence a change in tradition.

I think the issue here is that the family didn't tell OP, and that they were left out.

.I'm sure many people do, but I've never met anyone that actually does.

Isn't it usually one present at midnight and then the rest in the morning?
swanheart 35
That means in the morning they will need to sit and watch you open your pressies. They've used up all their excitement for the day and you still have yours!

If they'd open presents without op, they most definitely aren't going to sit around and watch him open presents either

And they didn't wake you up? That sucks! Merry Christmas though OP

I'm so sorry OP. Merry Christmas and I hope it gets better.

Maybe they didn't want to disturb your rest. Merry Christmas!

There is always one member of the family that is taken for granted, forgotten about and ignored. Hope you got nice presents anyway.

Well I hope you got something! They still should've waken you up! That was a rude and immature move! Love and a merry Christmas from me to you! You deserve to have a good one!
