Merry Christmas!
Today, it's Christmas Day. Normally, my family would be opening gifts right now. Instead, my mom is holding our gifts hostage until we clean the house. Apparently, "The presents aren't going anywhere." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I thought my mom and I could put aside our differences and open our Christmas presents. When she opened mine, she turned to my dad and said she didn't want the present, so I could give it to someone else. 'Tis the season. FML
Today, my mom got drunk and decided to unwrap all my Christmas gifts and throw them at the wall. Ho, ho, ho. FML
Today, my mother has stooped to a new level of "hiding" Christmas gifts. She now just dumps them in the middle of the floor and says, "Don't look at them." If she even thinks I'm glancing in the direction of the pile, she will burst into a manic rage, and yell at me for "ruining the surprise." FML
Today, my mother has issued a 'Christmas Ultimatum'. The rest of us have exactly 2 days to "get some Christmas around here" or we will feel her wrath. FML
Today, I waited anxiously until midnight to open my Christmas presents. As the clock struck midnight, I ran out into the living room, super-excited to open them, only to discover that everyone in our house had already opened theirs, and had all gone to bed. FML
Today, my family decided to break tradition and wake up at midnight to open presents. I didn't find out until I went downstairs to get a glass of water in the middle of the night, and found wrapping paper and empty boxes everywhere. FML
Today, I've had my tenth "Christmas" dinner since Christmas last took place. My mum has gone nuts and keeps playing Christmas music, making these dinners, and refusing to let me take down the Christmas decorations. My dad is too whipped to save us from this hell. FML
Today, on the third of February, my mom finally relented and let us take the Christmas decorations down. FML
Today, my parents refused to give my daughter her Christmas presents as an act of revenge against her father. FML
Today, my mom is coming to pick up the Christmas presents we got for her and her husband. She won’t come inside or come within 6 feet, so she can be healthy when she goes down to the ex-wife’s parents house to hang out. The ex in-laws that hate me. Glad my mom chose them over me. FML

Unless you have a 5 story mansion with tons of rooms and she wants you to clean all windows, floors, ceiling etc then it's not really that bad.

Haha, sounds like something my mom would do. She's such a perfectionist. But hey, at least you're still getting the presents! Merry Christmas!

These are the kind of parents who don't seem to realize their kids are going to move far away and never look back once they're 18. Or maybe they do realize it and are hoping for just that. Either way, sucks to be you OP.

Considering how OP is complaining about something so insignificant, that guess is pretty likely.

A clean home is a happy home

My home is clean and nobody is happy here

Chores on Christmas, that doesn't sound joyful.

OP should be grateful they have a home, and presents. A lot of people suffering from natural disasters right now, probably don't have either.

Um, I guess that means you don't clean to your mothers desire? I guess you'd better start if you want those presents of yours.

What if the presents grow legs and walk away, then who'll be talking, huh.

I think this may call for a professional negotiator to get out of this one.

When you're scrubbing your toilet, just remember that you've got some presents waiting on you. Merry Christmas?
