Today, my 12-year-old daughter informed me that she is eager to lose her virginity, "Because I don't want to be thrown into a volcano!" FML
Today, I was having sex with my wife when my 14 year-old daughter texted me from her room, "Stop." FML
Today, my teenage daughter asked me how old I was when I lost my virginity. I sarcastically replied that I'm still a virgin. She looked at me blankly and said, "Jeez, no wonder you're so uptight. You need to get laid, mom." FML
Today, my mother was scolding my youngest sister for having unprotected sex with yet another partner. She continued with, "Why can't you be like your brother and just never have sex?" I'm 22, and she's not wrong. FML

okay so now the correct "good mother" thing to do is be realistic. Most girls are going to want to have sex before they're married. Say something like "sixteen, and on birth control". I had the smae talk with my little sister the other day. I was trying to both do the right thing and make sure she knows its best to wait (there is no uy at the moment, thankfully, but i dont like risking it) but also be the cool big sister too, so as not to push her away. Because if she DID start having sex too young I would at least want to know, so that i could do something about it. I'd much rather have my 12 year old sister having sex while on birth control than have her pregnant, you know?

"being a good mother" you should give her a more detailed answer, either tell her to wait until she is with someone she trusts and is on birth control, or if your personal beliefs dictate she wait until marriage, explain to her why. if you don't tell her the facts straight up she'll get her information from her friends or the internet, which could be dangerous. she could end up pregnant or with an STD, and she might not trust you enough to ask you to help her get birth control if you aren't frank with her.

Why jump to the conclusion that she's actually having sex? She may just be reacting to the fact that "Ohmygod I'll have to wait SO LONG before it's my turn." At 12, adulthood seems like an eternity away. Also, that kid needs some sex education, stat. THAT is what makes you a good mother.
