Today, my dad screamed at me because I've been "spending too much money". He's been out of a job for 4 months and I've been giving him 300 dollars a month to help pay for bills... and his beer. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Bills bills bills
Today, my dad snooped at my payslip and now he keeps calling me a tight cunt who should contribute more. This from the man who smokes 50 a day but hasn’t had full-time employment since 2009. Plus I pay rent, and the gas and electric when he can’t afford to, which is every month. FML
Today, as I was leaving home for my mall kiosk job, my dad asked me where I was off to. When I said I was going to work, he tossed an empty beer bottle to the floor, belched, and said "Bah! Get a REAL job!" He's unemployed and living in my apartment. FML
The buck stops here
Today, my dad answered his Skype call by insisting he wasn’t giving me any more money. Thing is, I had been about to ask for money, again. I tried to open a shop in the middle of a pandemic, and I’m 4 months late on rent and utilities. I ended the call so he wouldn’t see his grown son crying. FML
Today, I finally told my dad that he owes me over 400 dollars, and that I need it or else I'd get kicked out of my apartment. He only gave me 70 and said to get a better job. FML
Today, my dad asked me to lend him some money to buy his medication, since he's all but broke right now. He returned with nothing but a bottle of tequila. FML
Hard no
Today, my dad, who never supported us growing up, and who calls once a month to collect his monthly living expenses, gave me an ultimatum: either buy him a plane ticket so that he can come live with me forever (he's a raging alcoholic) OR to send him $4,500 US Dollars (which where he lives is someone's 6 month salary). FML
Dad priorities
Today, as he was going out, I asked my father if he stop by the store and buy some tampons for me and toilet paper for the house, because we have been out for the last 5 days. He came home with a 30-pack of beer and cigarettes instead. I just started my time of the month and we have no more money. FML
Today, nearly Christmas, my dad got mad because I don't have enough money for holiday festivities. I can't afford things because I haven't gotten my paycheck yet. I work for my dad. FML
Today, I found out that my dad has been trying to take money out of my savings account to pay for divorce fees and a hammock. FML
Living beyond your means
Today, I realised that despite having a full-time job I must really be failing at this adulting business, because I called my dad and the first words out of his mouth were, "I’m not sending you any more money." I do borrow money a lot, and yes I was about to ask for more. What the hell is wrong with me? FML

why are some people saying that the op should be giving his father money because he had to do that for 18 years of her life its not like she was able to fend for himself for that time was it. At the very least he could start making some money at 13 but thats just pocket money. He is helping his dad because he wants to. What right does his dad have to tell him how to spend his money when not only did he earn that money but he is also helping his dad out. If the OP is still at home that makes very little difference because he is still paying for the majority house and the bills if not all of it, as long as all that is paid up who cares what he is doing with his money.

I think he didn't consider those to be questions because at the end they weren't questions. She is just helping him out, maybe he didn't know and just learned something. Why does everyone think it is bad to help correct someone? She is not saying he is an idiot, she is just helping him, how is that bad? And I do help correct my friends, I'd rather them know than be ignorent.

If your dad is wasting your money on beer, stop helping him out and leave.

i can't decide whether you're doing it to be funny and take the piss out them... or if you get some kind of thrill from the superiority gained from correcting people. either way it's annoying as ****.

If he thinks you spend too much money you can tell him he's right and not give him any more.

I echo what everyone has said: don't give him money for at least one month. He'll be back and he'll have to grovel because he doesn't have anywhere else to get it from.

That's usually what worthless alcoholics do when they feel worthless.

Time to cut dad off and if he gets upset tell him you don't want to spend too much money. in the meantime, save up to get your own place

O my God that just sucks! Go talk to your dad untill you two made things clear. If you won't talk to him, then talk to me.
