Today, my spineless shitwhip of a boss made me go fire a notoriously abusive employee. I had to act like firing him was my decision, even though I'm the secretary. Now I get to live in constant fear that the guy was serious when he threatened to find out where I live and kill me. FML
Today, my boss made sure to do one last thing before he retired. Fire me. FML
Today, at my new job at a funeral home, my boss threatened to fire me if I didn't "lighten the hell up" while dealing with our grieving clients. FML

Today, my boss is still refusing to fire my psychotic coworker, who's made it his mission to insult, annoy, bully and threaten me every day into making me quit. My boss is convinced the guy just has "assburger's" and that the company would get sued if we fired him. FML
Today, I tried to fire the worst worker I've ever had over the phone because he never shows up for work anymore. He said no and went crazy. HR and the police are now involved. FML

Have u guys actually tried to see if he is doing ok? Offer counsel? Unfortunately, our veterans have been thru a lot and when some things go undiagnosed or addressed, it can make for a very angry person. Try first getting him some help.

Is it YOUR job to fire him? If not, tell your boss you won't do it. Here in my country, he can't fire you for refusing to do his job for him -- and even if he can, no job's worth your life. If it IS your job to do it, then you need to find a way to do it without riling him up too much, or find a way to redirect his anger somehow. Tell him it wasn't your idea -- upper management insisted -- or something like that. Or, you might consider quitting. Again, no job's worth your life.
