Today, my boss at my new job described a client as "retarded". I corrected him with "mentally disabled". He smirked and replied "Whatever. Just explain things to her real slow. After all, she's 'mentally disabled'. And a woman." I need this job so bad that I'll have to just put up with this asshole. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, at my new job, I walked into the office to hear my supervisor and HR manager talking about how, "the new guy isn't very smart, but we can get him to do the shit work for a couple weeks." Gee, thanks. FML
Freudian slip?
Today, my new boss asked me to handle a very difficult client, warning me that, "He's kind of a dick." My accidental response? "That's fine, I'm great at handling dicks." FML
Today, my boss walked up and smacked my butt. I am a 19 year-old guy. My boss is a 50 year-old woman. I desperately need this job. FML
Today, I had to go to a boring, never-ending "sensitivity training" session, all because my douchebag coworker filed a complaint against me last week after I apologized for being tardy. Apparently I was insulting people with mental disorders. Or as she put it, "differently-abled" people. FML
Charming
Today, I realized my coworker can't comprehend English, or any other language. When I mentioned this to a coworker, they accused me of being an ableist. This is the same person who insults him to his face, knowing he can't understand her. FML
Language barrier
Today, my mother who learned English as an adult sent an email to my boss, thanking them for hiring me even though I'm "retarded." I’m a law school graduate who was diagnosed with a minor learning disability in kindergarten, but she still calls me "retarded" when speaking English. FML
Workplace etiquette
Today, my new boss sat me down and told me he's seriously reconsidering my hire, all because I greeted him with, "Howdy, boss!" instead of, "Good morning, sir." Apparently this indicates a lack of respect for his authority. FML
Grammar rules, OK!
Today, my new boss lost his shit and flew into a ten minute rant against me about the "value of respect". He told me that if I wanted to stay in "his" company, I'd best start toeing the line. All this because I corrected his misuse of "your" and "you're" in one of his memos. FML
Today, at my new job at a funeral home, my boss threatened to fire me if I didn't "lighten the hell up" while dealing with our grieving clients. FML
Today, I started my new job at a small business. I was pretty excited to finally be working, until I found out the big boss is a creeper and sees no problem making comments such as "You're way more interesting than the rest of these slope-eyed fucks." FML

Report it to someone OP, I'm sure that can't be tolerated.

That should not be tolerated at the workplace.

I get the whole retard-mentally challenged ordeal and professionals shouldn't be using the word retard in a professional environment. However, the fact that he implied women are naturally unintelligent makes it sound like this didn't happen, since that is no longer a realistic or popular idea.

Get a sales job. It's better pay and you can basically get a job anywhere. Sad part is you have to tolerate these types of people in all walks of life

And it sounds like the boss thinks the client's retardation stems from her being a woman (or her being a woman is part of her defect). It's not being "smug"-- it's not being an asshole.

People like this are what drive people like me to physical violence. Seriously **** that guy. He's a grade A douchecanoe and deserves to get hit really ******* hard in his stupid ******* face. Your new mission in life: **** this guy over. Hard.

Oops-- edit time ran out. I meant it is being an asshole.

The word retarded is in the dictionary and can be used as a valid description of a person if they fit the definition of the word. You didn't "correct him" he was already right.

That's an IQ of under 80. Does he have her IQ test papers?

That is not the correct term for someone with developmental disabilities. Hasn't been for 50 years. Don't be a dick
GeorgiaBea 28
Omg so much misinformation- to be considered developmentally disabled, an IQ must be under 70. Profound is under 40.
