Today, my aunt, whom I live with, told me she is going to move out and demanded her half of the rent back, as she only spent two days a week there. When I told her that's not how rent works, she called my mom to tell her what a failure she had raised. Her own sons are unemployed drug addicts. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I finally got all of my finances to move out of my house. My mother, instead of being happy for me for moving out of her house, blames me because she needs my rent money, states I will not be happy out in the world and disowned me because I didn't move out when she wanted me to. She wanted me to stay until she was 55. FML
Today, my crazy drug-addict mother kicked me out of the house after siding with my crazy, drug-addict aunt, who'd just threatened to slit my throat. FML
Today, I found out that the $200 I reluctantly gave to my mother so she could rent a house was paid to a scammer. Now she wants to live with me, in my one bedroom apartment. FML
Today, after months of helping my mother with bills because she claimed she had no money, I found out she makes way more than what I do. She just wanted my money for alcohol and drugs. FML
Today, my pill-popping mom, committing disability fraud and stealing from me, called the cops on me, and dragged the landlord into it, is now getting both of us evicted. All this because she'd rather live homeless with her drug problem than to get the help she needs, which I can't provide anymore after 10 years. FML
Today, I moved back home because I got laid off and could no longer afford my apartment. I decided to take a nap and when I woke up I overheard my Mom telling my Aunt that she used to be so proud of me and wonders when I became such a loser. Burn. FML
Today, after hitting hard times and needing a place to stay, I'd asked my sister for help to which she sent me a paragraph-long response about how it would break their lease if they had people live there, leading me to sleep on a friend's couch, I found out our tweaker mom started staying at my sisters and didn't leave for 6 months. FML
Today, my parents are calling me a spoilt brat and threatening to disown me if I don't let my sister, her six kids, and freshly out of jail boyfriend move into the house I spent 10 years working my ass off to buy without having a mortgage. Sis said I can sleep on the lounge as long as I pay rent. FML
Today, I caught my mom using my toothbrush and washcloth again, despite her having both her own bathroom and supplies. I asked her to please not use mine, to which she called me an ungrateful bitch. My dad agreed. Yet they wonder why I've been desperately saving money to move out. FML
Today, I found out my roomie has lost her only source of income. This means I'm responsible for all the bills and the rent. I would kick her out and get someone else, but she's my mother. FML

All I can say is consider the source and keep your head up. Also, doing financial transactions with family is usually a BAAAAD idea....

Works for my family just fine. My mom gives my grandma money to pay for certain things, my grandma gives my mom money to pay for certain things. My mom pretty much handles all the money.

My experiences have been bad. Lot's of family drama involving lent money, maxed credit cards, and bitterness. It depends on the situation of course, but don't lower your defense just because they're family. I treat all family transactions just like normal ones now after losing about 20,000 dollars due to family drama. Write the amount down, make contracts if it's a large amount. Notarize documents if they refer to large amounts of money.

#38 - I commend you for spreading the word about your own misfortunes, people need to learn that being related to somebody doesn't automatically mean they will treat you right. I wish you didn't have to learn the hard way, hopefully you recovered financially!

Exactly. If your aunt believes that she is entitled to everything she wants on the backs of her relatives, then she probably taught her kids the same values. Cue the drug addict sons.

It tends to be that way OP, those who have done bad see the bad in other and overlook the fault in themselves. I'm sure you're mother is sure enough of who you are not to listen to a word she said.
