Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got my first period. My dad bought me a card and had everyone in my family sign it. FML
Today, it's my sixteenth birthday. The only gift I got was from myself: a positive pregnancy test. FML
Special day
Today, it's my long-anticipated 21st birthday! Today also happens to be the first day of my period. I've spent the whole morning in the fetal position with agonizing cramps, reduced to tears, and whimpering while the painkiller refuses to kick in. Happy birthday! Love, my uterus. FML
Today, I got an electric razor and a lesson from my dad on how to shave my mustache and chin. I also got my period. FML
Today, it's my birthday. My mom got me a gym membership and a bunch of clothes that are a few sizes too small. FML
Happy birthday
Today, it's my birthday. My birthday present was a pelvic exam, and not even the good kind of pelvic exam. Woo hoo! FML
Today, I woke up with a hangover, a shaved head, and my period. FML
Today, my boyfriend caught me in a lie about being on my period. He memorized my menstrual cycle, but still forgot that today is my birthday. FML
Happy…
Today, it was my birthday. My parents got me a box of cupcakes. My brother got me a deck of cards. My aunt got me a brochure on how to quit smoking. I have diabetes, I don't play cards, and I don't smoke. FML
Today, for my birthday, I got a Big Mac. FML

Actually, as the OP said she "got her period" i.e.; started it, the odds would be much lower. If she was regular as clockwork at 28 days per cycle, that would be 13 times a year, which means there would be a 3.6% chance the first day of a period would coincide with her birthday, meaning it happened roughly once every 28 years. Bloody statistics...

If you're into maths/science, a calculator is an extremely useful present. As for the period part, well, you either will get used to it, or you should be by now. Though if you're unlucky enough to get seriously ill each month, then I can understand why you're complaining about that.

In other words, you received an expensive gift and found out you don't have to worry about being pregnant. Sounds like a good birthday to me.....

Pop a frickin' midol and stop bitching. "Today, for my birthday, I got an expensive and very useful present, and also went through something every single female on the planet goes through. Boohoo, boohoo."
