Today, is my one day off for the week. My mother in law is visiting, and has decided we need to rearrange my living room. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Tactfully, no
Today, my mother-in-law asked if she could move in with us. FML
Work work work work
Today, I had my first day off in six months. My mother immediately came down to my room and demanded that I clean the entire house. As I was cleaning, she said, "You don’t get to relax. Ever. Lazy ass." FML
Today, I came home from a long shift at work to find that my roommate had completely rearranged all of the furniture. Apparently the new arrangement is supposed to improve the feng shui of our apartment. My bed is in the living room. FML
Call the police!
Today, I came home after a long day at work to find the furniture in my living room had been rearranged by my mother-in-law. When asked how she got in, she told us she stole my husband's key and made herself a copy. She can now come here whenever she wants, unless I change the locks. FML
Clean
Today, in the entire half-hour since my mother-in-law reached our home, she's inspected and criticised every aspect of our home, despite things being spot clean. And sermoned me non stop on how to "live". My husband still wonders why I don't want her visiting. It"s going to be a long two weeks. FML
Great news
Today, my mother-in-law announced that she's going to be moving into the apartment next to us. Oh joy. FML
Today, I found out that my unemployed and very needy mother-in-law will be moving in with us soon. And during my conversation on the phone with her, she expects us to buy a house and my wife and I can "live with her." My wife agrees with all of this. FML
Today, I came home from a week-long vacation, only to find my mother-in-law didn't just dog-sit while I was gone; she moved in, along with all her possessions, and seems to think it's a permanent deal. FML
Let it be
Today, it seems that I can't enjoy one fucking weekend without my mom finding work for me to do to take up my time, and I'm sick of it! FML
Today, my mom told me to clean the house up because she wants to make good impression on the cleaning lady. FML

The word is NO. Meet it. Use it. Make it your own. You're going to need it with this mother-in-law.

Politely tell her you have prior engagement with a co-worker or boss, idk and just go put with some friends, have a beer, a burger, catch a ball game... If she wants to reaarange the house let her do it on her own!

What? She's trying to rearrange OP's living room, not her own. @OP: Tell her no. And if she doesn't accept that tell her she's free to leave. She's your guest, it's not her place to decide how your place is arranged.

Yes, I agree! I have a MIL like yours and she is never considerate of me and never will be. So, stand your ground (but politely because you will have to interact with her until the end of time) and don't give in. Also, don't let her do it at all, even without you as others have suggested, because once she gets to do what she wants she'll keep going until she takes over your life. Good luck!!

I will never understand why some people feel like they have the right to decide what other people should and should not do. I hope you did what YOU wanted.

What makes her think that is her decision?

I'm sorry OP. I too have a monster-in-law that does similar things. I feel for you.

I swear my future in laws better not be like this and try to control my life or they will not be welcome in my home. Make your voice known to her that it's your house and not her's.

It's your home - have it how _you_ like it.
